Buyer insisting that I sell the item even though the transaction is cancelled

I have an bundle of 2 items for sales. I listed it as an auction on ebay.

However,  about 4+ hours before the auction end,  one of the items is sold to someone else in another site.

The listing had quite many watchers but only one bidder at the time. So I have to cancel listing making the only highest bidder the winner (automatically). I then proceeded to cancel the sales because  “the item is out of stock”.

However, the buyer INSISTS me in selling her the other item, through the same listing of 2 items. I refused on the ground of buyer protection policy (she might ask for a refund later because I only send her one item when the listing said 2?). I told her I will relist the other item once the cancellation is settled and send her the link to the new listing. She still asks me to send it to her. Never been in this situation before, what should I do? Am I right when I did that?

You are correct in not sending the one item, but you are supposed to cancel the bids, and then end the listing, not "end with highest bidder winning"

The cancel after the auction ending as "out of stock" gives you a seller defect.

Buyer stated there were 4+ hours before the end of auction.  Doesn't there have to be at least 12 hours before end of listing before the seller can cancel all the bids and end the listing?

I’m a pretty new seller, it’s probably my fault when I didn’t cancel the bids. I didn’t know it was possible so I ended the listing.

Probably I’ll try to resolve with the buyer and offer her a solution. Can she leave me with a bad review for this?

I don’t know but for some reason ebay let me do that. I’m just a casual seller selling my collection, should have done some more research

I don't mean to sound like your Mother,  but...

Don't have the same item up for sale on 2 different sites!

Yep. I just completely forgot that I have identical listings on two sites. And my amateur self also is to blame because I saw many collectors doing that I thought that was ok

You can’t assume something is ok to do on eBay just because you see others doing it.  It’s sort of like speeding on the highway; just because others are speeding doesn’t make it ok for you to do it, too.

Yes, lesson learned for me. I’m still politely negotiating with the buyers and see what I can offer/ compensate for her.
