I’m sure there is a Process that I can get my Selling fee credit from EBay when a Buyer just arbitrarily returned an item rather than go thru EBay Return. I’ll have to refund thru PayPal but How Can notify EBay I refunded and get final fee credit?
With everything I sell, I include a note to Buyers that Returns can only be refunded if they use the official EBay Return Process. Guess some people don’t bother reading it.
Can anyone help me? Takes forever to call EBay.

Just send the buyer a message acknowledging the return & tell them you will be cancelling the transaction & issuing the refund. Then go in and cancel it using the reason “buyer requested” and eBay will credit the FVF.

If you are refunding the whole amount, you could use cancel order in ebay (buyer requested). They would automatically be refunded and you would receive your fees back.
If you refund through PP you will probably have to phone to get your fees credited.
edit...gets out of the slow typist corner

Hmmm ... was this item sent with Tracking and shows Delivered?
If you refund now, what's to prevent the buyer from filing another "official" Return Request and force another refund?

Another refund can't be forced if he refunds the original paypal transaction.

I've never tried it, but the help page says you can't cancel once you've sent the item.

I've successfully done it many times. When buyers message me to return it, or just return it without any notice, I just cancel the transaction like other have mentioned. I don't believe there's any policy that says you must use eBay returns. I've tried many times before to guide buyers to file and there's been times the buyer gets confused and upset, thus making things worse. Best to just give them what they want while making them jump thru the least amount of hoops.

Paypal changed the refund setup to do the full amount . I noticed the change when I went to do a partshell refund on shipping to my buyer do to a glitch on combined shipping did a over charge for zone 3 rate . I had to use buyers email to do the partshell refund . I have no idea when paypal changed their refund programing.

That would be a change worthy of notification from PP. I just did a shipping refund 3 days ago and it worked fine. I hope this is a glitch and not permanent.

Thanks for update. Also thanks to all sellers for their input. Unsure as to why she’s returning item. She left great feedback about it fits perfect the day it was delivered, 2 days later sent me a message she mailed it back but didnt understand how to go thru EBay Process. All the more reason I require buyer to pay for returns!

When you want to do a partial refund on PAYPAL, you need to crack your head to find RETURN TO CLASSIC VIEW and click that and then you can do a partial refund. Go slowly because when you click it , it shows the full amount so you have to erase that and put the amount that you want to refund.

My ebay > SOLD > More actions > Cancel order - buyer's request
The buyer's Paypal payment will be refunded (if buyer paid) and seller will be credited the Final Value Fee charged on the sale. ebay will send an email to the buyer to confirm the refund and cancellation. If the buyer does not confirm after 10 days, seller can close it.
