Buyer has received item after opening case, not responding

Hey guys, disappointed I'm here even having to look into this but needs must

 

I sold a games console recently and the buyer opened a "not received" case out of nowhere, without messaging me beforehand which seemed precarious and premature right from the off

 

Anyway, I added the tracking info immediately to show for him and myself, where it then updated the next day telling me everything. It said that on the day this case was opened (around 10pm I believe) that there had been an attempted delivery that day at 1:30pm

 

By this stage, it was the next day so I waited it out to see if the second attempted delivery would go through and indeed it did, at 11:30am with a written signature uploaded

 

However, the buyer did not respond to the case for the rest of the day (Friday), and I posted another message to simply say "I can see you have received your item with signature included" etc., and said they had attempted the previous day but nobody was available

 

I'm already assuming he's simply going to try it on, but how do I go about this as I've read numerous statements

 

Do I esculate the case as soon as I can? I've heard a seller should not do this

 

Do I wait 10 days -if that's the rule- for eBay to automatically step in as long as the buyer doesn't respond?

 

If he does respond, do I wait 30 days? Which would really annoy me, but as long as I rightly won the case

 

.. Is there anything else I'm missing? Anything else I can do/add to help further?

 

I don't know what to do, I feel I should be in a position to esculate myself and win the case as eBay themselves have the tracking information down as "Deliivered" on their own site now. So surely they would see this and they'd favour me?

 

Thanks for any help, very annoying

If tracking now shows delivered, phone ebay and have them close the case while you wait on the phone. Once an item shows delivered on non receipt case, buyer loses. Don't trust any automation, phone and get it closed via a rep. Don't hang up until they tell you they closed it in your favor.

Block the buyer also. A buyer needs to contact a seller first. Ebay should only be used IF a seller don't respond.

Thank you, i'm actually from the UK but came on the US forum by mistake when googling up on this stuff. I'll call them ASAP/latest Monday, case was opened Thursday so this should be speedy enough?

 

I know people have gone through much worse but it really bothers me how someone will buy an item and have the audacity to try screw the seller -- just to clarify, i'm not even saying this guy has 100% done that yet but generally speaking, i can only imagine how much it stings because i'm only getting a taste of it right now and it's extremely bitter.

Agreed. My gut instinct serves me well 9 times out of 10 and as soon as I saw it I was very annoyed.

 

Luckily i've never really had an issue before but hey, this item is more expensive so what a surprise right? I don't like how the system caters to the buyer more. Very offputting, makes me think twice about paying eBay tax for selling.

The US CS is open on weekends, I'm surprised the UK isn't. You could also message via Facebook, include your User ID, name, item number and ask if they can close the case for you, stating the item now shows delivered. Can't hurt. Don't post to the page, send a private message. You don't want to provide this info in a post, only a message.

The UK CS is open weekends (didn't mean to imply it wasn't!), it's just Monday would be a better time for me to go through calling them, as long as it doesn't work against me leaving it a couple extra days?

 

No worries, won't post anything here. I'm still half hoping this buyer just closes the case themselves tomorrow, and is being really slow about it. That's the optimist in me speaking i think, though.
