I do not get many returns. Most of the time, buyer does return the item and I refund.
This one is still languishing out there. It was a $8.10 item with $2.66 shipping. I have free shipping and free returns. What do you do with this?
Does this effect seller metrics one way or the other if I call it in and ask to have it closed?

We've asked the buyer to ship the item back by Jan 16. Wait until you get the item back before issuing a refund. You should wait until you get the item back before you refund the buyer. Please ensure that you issue the refund within 2 business days of the item being delivered. If the buyer doesn't send the item back by Jan 16 we may close this return.
Here's what the buyer said

Yea you have to call ebay to manually close it out for you. It's dumb how they don't allow sellers to "escalate" these online. They force us to jump thru hoops to get what we are entitled to... because they know it'll be an outcome the buyer won't like. And I pretty much have to do this process weekly.
But once you call, they'll escalate it and close it out in your favor no problem. You won't get anything negative from this what so ever. Buyer won't even be able to leave feedback. If your return was a SNAD (which it isn't) the only bad thing you'll have is a tack against your seller metric... those are never removable.

I called, just a few seconds of wait time and they said they closed it and I have confirmed in Seller Hub.
Thanks for the confirmation on this one folks. I appreciate you all.

OK, now light a candle and hope they don't go to PP and ask for a refund. They have 180-days to do that.

Amen to that, praying as we speak!
