Did you mean:

Buyer filing obvious fraudulent "received empty box" claim and asking for refund.

Buyer received item nearly 3 days ago. Now today has filed a "Item not received" request and in the reasoning section wrote "received empty box.."

About an hour later, that request was cancelled and he then filed a return request instead. Again claiming 'received empty box..."

This was an expensive jacket. I absolutely shipped it in the box. I have already sent a message stating that we can file police report/contact local post office/etc as seen in other forum threads about this same type of scam. Is there anything else I can do in the meantime? Is there a way I can reach out to a human at Ebay directly and let them know whats going on?

It should, yes.  If you contact ebay, request to talk with Trust and Safety people (fraud dept).

is the address. I already sent a similar message about mail fraud and the inspector general etc and he just replied "you can file a report. i'll just wait until ebay steps in"

I didn't want you to post the full actual address. Just the zip code is what's needed to find the postal facility that services the zip.

This is what has happened now. I sent photo proof to the buyer (USPS internal tracking info) that the package weighed 3 lbs and was never empty or damaged upon delivery. Then they ended the request and the money is no longer on hold. Is this whole thing over now?

Not 100% sure but it looks like the buyer may have opened a chargeback with their CC company which would have automatically closed the eBay case. If that is what happened you should receive some notification from eBay in the next day or so regarding the chargeback. If that happens please return to the boards and let us know.

Re: Buyer filing obvious fraudulent "received empty box" claim and asking for refund.

Look, usps knows the weight of the box you dropped off.

If it was empty, the last place it was weighed, and scanned, would show a different weight, which would have alerted usps something was wrong.  Also to remove something from the box, tape would have to be cut or some box damage and repair, and none of this was noted by usps or the buyer.  So if it wasnt opened, its impossible it was empty because empty boxes would not have been scanned to weigh multiple pounds when you first handed it over to your local usps.

Out of curiosity which of the two jackets is the post about? I noticed one of them went through the authenticity process and one did not. If this is regarding the one that went through the authenticity process there are other factors that come into play.

They obviously did not because the buyer did not mention it.  It would be one of the first things mentioned if usps left a note.  This is a scam job.

Nope, long way from over.

They opened a case with their credit card and will probably be getting a refund.

Have A Great Day.

Buyers don't always mention it unless they are asked about it.

Re: Buyer filing obvious fraudulent "received empty box" claim and asking for refund.

I have been speaking with Ebay and they said they will work with me to make the case against the credit card company. I got documentation from the post office today showing the weight of the package when dropped off and at each scan along the way. Nothing out of the ordinary was ever scanned and the package was delivered securely. Thats when the buyer canceled the request and went for a chargeback instead.

Hopefully Ebay actually does stick with me on this and the credit card company sees this fraud.

Re: Buyer filing obvious fraudulent "received empty box" claim and asking for refund.

Read this page of ebay policy

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-policies/seller-protections?id=4345&st=3&pos=1&query=Sell...

Duplicate claims

Buyers can't use more than one resolution method to get a refund. If a buyer files a chargeback or buyer protection claim with their payment provider:

  • We'll close any open "Item not received", return, or order cancellation requests for that transaction
  • The buyer won't be able to open an eBay "Item not received" or return request for that transaction

The buyer will more then likely loose their chargeback claim also hopefully ebay sends them the proof. Ask ebay to step in with this protection too.
