Buyer doesn’t send the item

I sold the item on October 29. The item was delivered on November 2. On

November 4, the buyer sent me a request for a refund. I accepted the request. Money on hold. 

 

Ebay said: “ If the buyer doesn't send the item back by Nov 19, we may close the return. “ 


Today is November 25 and nothing has changed. What should I do? Money on hold and I didn't receive my item

Nothing.

You'll just have to wait until they decide to close the case.

Refunds will automatically close after a certain period of time.

 

Buyers sometimes "change their mind" about returning items when they have to pay shipping costs.

Nov 4 to Nov 19 is the 10 business days to MAIL THE RETURN:

It's 15 calendar days due to the 1 holiday.

Then eBay waits another 5 business days, Nov 20 to Nov 27, to look for a scan, except today and maybe Friday are not business days, so your 5 business days likely won't pass out until Monday next week because your non-return is unfortunately embroiled in Thanksgiving right now.

 

When buyers are sent an eBay-generated return label, the return is closed if the label is not printed within 10 business days. If the buyer prints the label, we allow the return to remain open an additional 5 business days to ensure shipping scans are captured. When buyers are not sent an eBay-generated return label, we wait up to 35 business days before closing the return.

"may" is the operative word..  I guess they "may not" close the case on Nov. 19 as well.  I remember reading they have given the buyer extra time to return items now.  They increased the time due to Covid issues, but made the extended program permanent.  Has the tracking on the label the buyer was provided show that the parcel  is in transit? 

Used to be you could call to get the case closed when an item was not returned, but now that has changed as well.
