buyer ordered an item on the 3rd, shipped same day delivered the 7th. Buyer opened a item not received case on the 16th and messaged me they entered wrong address and asked can forward to a new address which they gave me.
I said no its been delivered and i cant alter the provided address per ebay guidelines anyways. Today they opened a credit card dispute for item not received. I responded with the proper documentation and written response.
Curious how this one is gonna play out, ebay message said im covered under seller protection and no funds will be deducted . Just not sure if the protection is just for now or will i have funds reversed if the credit card company issues a refund
assuming this is a new scam tactic

Since you have tracking showing delivered, you would win an eBay MBG claim. The fact that they went straight to their credit card suggests they knew that. I would definitely just provide any details you can including the delivered tracking scan and it should go in your favor.

As long as the order details city state and zip matches tracking you should be good.
If I am wrong someone will be along to chime in shortly.

i did provide screenshots of original order screen showing original address, the message in the dispute through ebay asking to forward to the new address and a pic of the ups.com tracking screen showing delivered as well as a detailed written response. we shall see

Sounds exactly like what would happen in a stolen credit card/unauthorized use chargeback.
Your protection definitely should be in place no matter how the credit card issuer rules.

As @brightlightbookseller said, you would win a ebay claim. but since the claim is with the buyers credit card company, who knows how they will find. Good luck!

"ebay message said im covered under seller protection and no funds will be deducted"
EBay has your back on this one, no worries.

eBay does state in seller protection that they will cover the seller in situations like this when tracking shows delivery and buyer opens a payment dispute.
