Buyer didn't return my item, please help!

Hello, I made a thread about a week ago where I sold a VR headset and the buyer made a false return claim. So I was forced to accept the return, and as you can guess he didn't return my headset. Here's what he put in the box...

 

What do I do here? I can't afford to lose $1k right now. How do I get my item or my money back?

Only thing you can do other than call the police is go to the BBB and make a complaint I had to do it for similar experience for $260.00 got my money back from ebay next day. Long story but we had all proof ness to prove our side Ebay just didn't care.Customer service reps at Ebay  even believed me but policy prevented them from doing anything in my favor

Should I be filing a complaint with the buyer's local Police Department or mine?

Buyers PD department, as well as their local postal department.

Just called their local PD. The officer said I should contact my PD? That is going to be a  problem if true. Anyone have experience with this? I really can't lose this item/money and I want to make sure he pays to the fullest extent of the law. People like him ruin everything for others.

It was mailed through UPS, not USPS. Does that make a difference?

The comment with the YouTube link was likely pulled by Ebay.

It had the name and other specifics of the buyer in a video of the seller opening the return box.

Major shaming.

It is in my browsing history, I will not share it.

You might want to report the situation as suspected mail fraud to the USPS Postal Inspectors.  While I'm not sure that it would be enough evidence for a conviction, if the buyers try pulling it too often it will most likely show up in an investigation.

well that is unfortunate.   

Did you have the return shipment insured?  

If the buyer said and can prove that they returned the item, and you received what was shown, it may be something that happened in transit which could be covered under the shipping insurance for in transit pilferage.

I was trying to figure it out myself.

It was not you.

A different seller who is angry about a incident, posted a YouTube video showing himself open a empty package. I guess he is upset... so he probably posted it in other discussions too.

Looks like it was up only for a few seconds, I just happened to be here at the right (???) time.

He kept repeating the Buyers name etc.

I mentioned it was in my history only because I wanted to check my own sanity.

I did a little content moderation.

His video is a great 1st grade example of what not to do.

...OP said they used UPS for shipping, not USPS...in that case, I don't think Postal Inspectors can't help much...
