So, one bid at the starting price won the auction, but buyer did not contact me or pay. Complete waste of time and I couldb't relist until Ebay allows. Went to leave feedback, but only the positive feedback button is available. How do I stop this please?

You cannot leave less than positive feedback for buyers. You cannot even leave a positive with a negative tone.
The only thing you could do is not use auctions and use immediate payment required on fixed price listings to avoid non-paying bidders.

No buyer can ever receive anything but positive feedback.
You want to help other sellers?
Cancel the non payers transaction after 4 days of nonpayment, they will get an unpaid item strike against their account. 2 in 12 months will block them from bidding and buying from countless number of sellers items.
That is all you can do.
FYI...Posting a positive feedback with a negative comment is against eBay's feedback policy, so , please, don't do it.

Since 2008 when ebay changed the feedback policy, sellers can only leave positive comments.
Don't even consider a negative comment as it'll negatively impact your account when it gets removed.

The buyer has 96 hours to pay after the Auction's end. If the buyer hasn't paid by then, cancel the order citing "Buyer didn't pay". They'll receive a buying 'ding' and another of those will keep this deadbeat off many sellers' doorsteps for a year. Please help other sellers by doing this.
And a heads up (before you do it)... don't send invoices. They only reset the buyer's payment window.

What good would leaving negative feedback for non paying bidder do?
Also, playing the devil's advocate there could be a very good reason why the bidder didn't or couldn't pay. They could have died, loss their job, found it cheaper, no longer needed it, got sick, got incarcerated, spouse got mad, needed money to fix car that broke down, kids needed shoes, the dog ate the check, there internet is down, ran out of money, loss all their money at the casino, and etc.

I can't help you but I just went through the same situation. eBay has some faults but it still has the best traffic for some items, other things I am considering a different platform. The upside of your situation is you still have your item and can repost it.

Welcome to eBay.

Sellers are not ever allowed to leave negative FB for buyers under any circumstances.
When a buyer does not pay, why would you not just cancel, citing "buyer did not pay" as your reason?

We need to clarify here: Two nonpayment strikes will block that buyer, but only from those sellers who have set their buyer requirements so that they do not have to deal with the two strike deadbeats.

Good point. You'll want to tick that requirement in your Account settings, @tupennyrice, for future transactions.

When a buyer doesn't pay, you don't (can't) leave them a negative feedback.
You cancel the sale. Reason: Buyer didn't pay.
The buyer then gets a strike from ebay.

You have to remove all emotion if working in e-commerce. Its just not worth the exasperation.

In order to leave negative feedback for your bidder you will need a time machine to go back in time prior to 2008 since we have not been able to leave negative feedback for buyers for 16 years now.

right - this is one of ebay's big mistakes
