I sold a dish a week ago, wrapped it extremely well, as I do with ALL china as I know how rough USPS can be. Buyer sent me a photo of the broken dish via USPS MAIL not through ebay messaging. (contact outside of EBAY).. Only the photo of the broken dish.. I would be glad to issue the full refund for broken dish BUT as anyone that has filed a damage claim with USPS KNOWS.. I need a photo of the damaged box and the label. I have tried to contact the buyer through EBAY messaging but no reply..
Without seeing the box, I am wondering if the buyer didn't drop the plate once unpackaged, broke it, and now wants refund. I need the extra photos to file damage claim on my end..Any idea how to proceed? Thanks

If they re not contacting you through ebay, you can technically ignore them. There is probably a reason why they are not (such as they open too many claims, etc). I would see it as huge red flag
Wait till they contact you through ebay

You did your part (and then some) by attempting to reply through messaging, even though the buyer didn't do so. (Who knows: maybe they've written out a reply in longhand and are now mailing you that.)
Now leave the ball in their court. It might even be a photo of the broken plate that they have now replaced with yours. I see no reason for you to pursue this any further at this time.

Unless it's a $200 plate, you don't needs pics of anything. Just file a claim and have it denied by USPS for inadequate packaging, then refund.
The buyer is not required to send you pics or do anything at all. You have been notified of an item not as described.
It doesn't matter whether the buyer broke the plate or it arrived broken.
Issue a refund or issue a prepaid return label.

I wouldnt do anything since its outside of eBay. If they continue to send mail to you go to the police and file a harrassment claim.

It's not harassment.
It's normal communications about a business transaction.

Never respond to a buyer on anything except eBay messages. Take a photo of the letter and PM him it and ask if this was his letter...then eBay will have record of the discussion if needed.

Buyer is not using ebay messaging. Seller should not do anything unless this buyer either opens a case thru ebay or at least replies using ebay messaging. Sounds like this buyer is avoiding getting on ebays radar for some reason.
