I have had a buyer complain AFTER winning an auction about my SET shipping cost of $8.99 for a doll accessory that was IN THE LISTING clearly. I told them I put flat rate on almost all my listings for cost of shipping (furthest place, plus box tape etc) they got mad and said it was “extraordinarily high” and “inflated” and I am being “unfair”. which I think is crazy since the price USPS will most likely charge me to ship this will be $5-$6 to her location.
Can they hurt my rating because of this?? I allowed her to cancel the sale even though she already bid and agreed to shipping price up front which i think is most unfair of her! And blocked her from
future buying from me as I don’t want to deal with someone winning an auction or bud and then trying to renegotiate price with me.
i just got a top seller rating and don’t want to ruin it due to people like this.

As long as you used "buyer requested" then there is no ding. On the other hand since she hasn't paid you could wait and cancel it for non-payment. There would still be no ding to you BUT her account would get an unpaid item strike. If she gets too many of those it will hurt her in the future. Depends on whether you want to give a little push back.

If the transaction was cancelled at her request, then she has no way to leave you feedback. It won't affect your eBay metrics or TRS status. And blocking the buyer in cases like this is essential. You have nothing to worry about.

Unless something has changed, they CAN leave FB. I had one of these earlier this year. BUT, eBay will easily remove the FB, when you explain that they wanted to cancel the tx.
She can't hurt you in any other way, just make sure you chose "Buyer requested Cancellation" as the reason, NOT Out of Stock b/c OOS DOES hurt you. The worst she can do is leave you bad FB, which like I said, eBay will remove. If it happens, go here:
https://www.ebay.com/sellerhelp
follow the links to request FB removal & tell them in a few sentences that the buyer initated the cancelation & why.

If the transaction has already been cancelled, the buyer still has the ability to leave FB? I know this will come as a shock to everyone, but that's absurd.

@refdef Yup & yup. I know eBay posted on here once why this was, they had some esoteric reason that rarely comes up to justify it, but I don't remember what it was. But yeah, it happened to me early in the year & I was surprised it was even possible. But like I said, took all of 2 minutes to get it removed.

@simply-the-best-for-you Welp, thanks for confirming that! I rarely auction stuff, but knowing that a buyer who doesn't fully read the description and condition text (and shipping cost!) is handy. Makes me want to avoid that method of listing, for sure.

@refdef I don't do auctions, haven't for around a decade & it still happens. Lots of FP buyers don't read either. I don't think it has anything to do with the type of listing. To clarify, my buyer that cancelled wasn't b/c of shipping costs. But whether it's FP or Auction, we all have buyers that don't read, it's not exclusive to 1 format.
Personally in this case, I would have outlined to the buyer exactly what my shipping costs were & why it was the rate it is, BUT I don't EVER do flat rate shipping like OP does. I ONLY do calculated. OP is newer & may not realize how many buyers are out of touch with shipping rates. Also, most don't realize that right now they are paying a Holiday Surcharge (from Oct to halfway into Jan) & so if someone asks me about shipping, I explain that & the twice a year rate increases from USPS. More often than not, once they understand, they are ok with it. I would not have jumped to a cancellation in this case, but that's me.

Cancel, buyer requested and if they report you appeal to eBay claiming buyer wanted something not in the listing - cheaper shipping

It might have been safer to ignore the buyer completely ... and then simply cancel the transaction on Day 5 so that you could award a nonpayment strike. That way you wouldn't have to worry about feedback.
As it is ... you likely could get bad feedback removed by contacting eBay and having them read the buyer's messages.
