Buyer claims that they did not receive package even though tracking has it marked a "Delivered"

Hello, I am a relatively new seller and I recently sold an item on the 26th which I promptly had it dropped off to USPS on the 27th. The tracking shows that the package was delivered on the 30th, however the buyer reached out to me on the same day claiming that no package was dropped off. He demanded a refund but I pointed it if it would be possible for him to reach out to his local USPS as I assumed they would have more info about the "Delivered" package (something I thought was a logical request). But this seemed to him infuriated him with him saying that he does not appreciate me making this his problem and if I do not refund him he will contact eBay and have my "eBay abilities revoked" (almost sure this is not a thing).

So long story short, I was wondering if we did escalate this issue to eBay would they most likely side with me since the tracking does show that it was delivered and if eBay does side with me would the buyer be able to retaliate by possibly giving me a bad feedback? Thanks for your inputs!

Do not let the buyer bully you. You shipped to the provided address, and it shows delivered. You did your job.

If the buyer opens an "item not received" case, simply respond to the message by entering the tracking.

First, read about eBays money back guarantee, it is good to know the rules. Second, just because buyer reaches out to you saying that they want a refund, does not mean you need to give a refund. Buyer needs to submit a claim through eBay, indicating item not received, you respond to claim by entering the tracking #, which will show that item was delivered, and eBay will close the claim in your favor.

Maybe the parcel was misdelivered by the carrier, maybe it was stolen, no one knows what happened, as far as you are concerned, it was delivered.

You did right by telling him to check with his local carrier, as that is correct. No, no one can just call eBay and have your eBay abilities revoked. Buyer can communicate with his local USPS to check on the GPS delivery of such parcel and proceed from there.

Good luck.

You are a new seller who sells expensive trading cards, a highly scammed item.  And as a new seller you will attract scammers like flies to the proverbial dung heap.  As tracking shows delivered then just re-enter the tracking number if the buyer files an INR and usually Ebay will back you up.  As for the buyer's threats  to have your "eBay abilities revoked" that is indeed is not a thing and simply balderdash to con you into providing a refund.  Ignore the buyer's messages, stop corresponding directly with the buyer, and wait for messages from Ebay.

Just reemphasizing that if your buyer opens an "item not received" (INR) case, you'll want to make sure you re-enter the tracking number into the case, even if eBay already has the tracking number captured. There's some debate whether this is necessary; however, better to err on the side of caution.

It IS the buyers problem. It's the buyers responsiblity to ensure a safe location for delivery of their items.

Your buyer likely has a porch pirate.

If the buyer opens an INR case, just upload tracking into the case and you will be fine. Don't communicate further with the buyer. Ignore and delete messages.

As for the buyers threats, he has no power to revoke anything. Put him in you're Blocked Bidder list so he/she can't buy anything else from you.

It isn't necessary to escalate you have the tracking that proves delivery on your side.

Don't give into the buyer. If there is an online delivery scan & you're protected as a seller. Now, you can ask the buyer to confirm their delivery address, maybe reach out to their neighbors for a possible mis-delivery, double check with others in the household, or even to contact the USPS who can actually provide better information about the delivery point (such as behind a potted plant or below a mat, etc.). If the parcel was delivered correctly & the parcel walked away, it isn't your responsibility for an unsecure delivery point. That falls on the buyer. If the buyer opens up an item not received case, just be sure to provide the tracking number in the case & you will be OK.

Good luck!

was this shipped with the ebay standard envelope?

that # is not "true tracking".

Carrier does not actually scan it on delivery. It gets scanned when processing along the way.

The item could show up on Tuesday/Wednesday.

Block him.

He will still be able to Message you, but he can't interfere with your other listings.

Give him the tracking number again.

And make sure it was provided when you shipped, because sometimes it does get overlooked.

If he opens a Claim, put the tracking number in the Claim.

Tell him you will contact your postmaster and open a Postal Inspector enquiry with USPS.

This scares a lot of would be scammers.

Check the delivery yourself to confirm that it did arrive at the address he gave you.

Sometimes the carrier will say the item is delivered although it is still on their truck. Or deliver to the house across the street. Google Maps can be a resource.

If he loses the Claim, he will not be allowed to leave feedback. If he wins, he cannot mention the Claim in feedback or you can have it removed.

Just in case, open a new selling account now. If for some reason you lose, with such low feedback this account would be poisoned.

Then start again, buying first to get some easy FB which is not used by eBay to assess accounts but which buyers use as a measure of trustworthiness.

If customer opens "did not receive item" case against you (you need to provide tracking# proving item was delivered).  If you can provide that...you will win the case.  Otherwise, you will be forced to give customer a "full refund" (including postage).
