Buyer changed the item before he decided to ask for return

I was selling an iWatch, described as used, i added a few photos showing the watch with a band attached. The buyer received the item and asked for a return on the ground that the watch is heavily scratched. He included two images without the band, only the watch which showed a lots of scratches indeed.  I don't think they were on my watch when i made the photo and the item was carefully packaged. When I asked the buyer why did he took off the band before asking for return he answered that "he wanted to check the quality".  Did he open the iWatch? Do I have to accept the return when I don't know what exactly happened with the watch?

Thank you for your comments and advise.

      I don't see any sold items on this account so I will assume it's a posting account. Not sure of the price of the item or what your return policy is or what the pictures looked like in the listing but it doesn't really matter. If the buyer opened a NAD return you are better off just accepting the return, offering a full refund once you have received the item back and issuing a return shipping label. If you fight the return you will likely loose, the buyer will be fully refunded anyway and be allowed to keep the item.

     Since this appears to be a posting ID I am not sure how long you have been selling or what your seller history looks like but new sellers and electronic items are favorite targets of the scammer community. Always remember the #1 rule as a seller on eBay and that is to never list anything you are not prepared to take the financial loss on.

@krido8623

As suggested, it really doesn't matter.  At the point where a buyer files a "not as described" return, the watch becomes (for the purposes of eBay) whatever the buyer says it is. The truth will never be a part of anything.   The procedure is then automated with very predictable results. Your photos or description will never be considered, and the buyer can basically return anything they want.  You will be refunding.  i
