Buyer Return Scam - tracking deception!!!!!!!!!!!! All sellers must read!!!!!

I sold something and the buyer claimed it was damaged and wanted to return.  I asked to send photos and I'd refund.  They didn't do that.  After 2 weeks went by tracking information was suddenly uploaded to ebay.  The return shipping was NOT created through ebay.  It showed it was delivered to me 5 days previously.  I DID NOT get the item back but sure enough, the shipping showed it was delivered.  It was also delivered at 9 am and I NEVER get my mail before 2pm wich made me skeptical.  Now, this item weighed over 4 pounds.  I figured out the tracking # was for a first class package!!!!!!  I am PRETTY DARN SURE, this customer  sent it someplace in my town, an envelope perhaps or something...maybe to the library ( a legit address) and it was just thrown away.  

I'm stuck because Ebay says it was returned, here's the tracking info that shows it was delivered.  I'm forced to refund this buyer now who NEVER responded to any of my inquiries to try to help.  I don't know how we can prevent this from happening again!!!!

And some on here would argue the weight on packaging isnt all that important....pfffft   wonder how that crow is tasting to them now after having read this post 

Make sure to report  that buyer!

It isnt important to Ebay thats for sure. And reporting a buyer does absolutely nothing..I speak from experience.

Its important when the time comes to report  the buyer, but only if the seller reports it. Reporting buyers/sellers DOES do something. No one can expect Ebay to oust anyone on a lone report, or even two...a pattern  has to be established but how can that happen when no one will  report? You cant correctly state And reporting a buyer does absolutely nothing. How do you know it did nothing? Because the person  wasnt booted off or you didnt visibly see the effects of their being reported? 

No wonder people dont report. If they dont see immediate consequences or any sign  of a punishment, then they think nothing was done.

Ebay isnt going to tell anyone the consequences of buyer or sellers sanctions. That doesnt mean nothing was done. I think there needs to be a more positive outlook here on the reporting so it will be done more. Being negative about it only reinforces that negative outlook people are having about it.

SELLERS have a negative outlook on reporting buyers because it does no good whatsoever, just a waste of time..even when there are multiple reports...buyers are not suspended...ever.

Sellers who have dealt with these type buyers can go into their feedback history and look for past buyers who have pulled stunts on them and see if they are still registered after some time past their report date of the buyer. Chances are,some sellers will see some no longer registered.

The negativity confounds me  🤔

Even when buyers abuse the mbg, they are never suspended, they just lose their money back guarantee on items. Or the deadbeats who dont pay, never suspended..it used to be three strikes and you're out..thats kind of a joke now.

I dont have to be a seller. It works both ways, for buyers as well as sellers.

If all I did was complain about the dishonest sellers on here who took money from me but didnt ship, shipped the wrong item(s), sent something completely wrong than what I paid for, etc...but never reported them, then what sort of leg would I have to stand on? None

Ebay gives buyers and sellers the option to report these type things. Its up to each to use that. If it isnt used, then who is to blame for these problem people continuing?

Everyone has to do their part. I dont have to be a seller to promote the reporting option Ebay has put in place. Im a buyer. That is enough to allow me that right

It absolutely works both ways,some bad buyers, and equally bad sellers,..but Ebay suspends sellers for infractions, not buyers. Sorry but thats the way it is here.

I think it only fair to the OP that you provide proof that "this is the way it is". What kind of proof  do you have that it doesn't work?  I think not just the OP, but future readers of this post need this info. 

So what it boils down to is youre saying that the reporting  feature Ebay provides is just an illusion and no one ever gets sanctioned when it is used.

I think a whole lot of buyers and sellers who were sanctioned when reported would beg to differ

I think you can contact your local post office and they can determine is it was delivered to your address.  They have the gps of when the carrier scanned it.

I know my sister had an item not delivered and when she contacted her PO they saw that it was scanned at a different  cluster of mail boxes.

Not sure if this would help if ebay already decided.  But hope it might.
