So buyer posts a question about this item. I offer free shipping and free 30 day returns on all listings. They say, If I buy this item and it does not look as pretty as the picture can I return it???. Geez I understand that some seller may really downplay their stuff in photos which I see all the time on here. Terrible, unprofessional pictures. But, here we have someone actually telling me that they may be returning this item right from the start and our pictures are fabuloso. I mean, really really good. I thought about this for a bit, and blocked.

When a buyer sends me message and talks about returning. I don't respond to it.
I block the ID and delete the message.

Your potential buyer sounds pretty retentive. If it were me I would not respond but just end the listing and relist in a week or two as such questions are red flags for problem buyers and returns. I might even block the buyer.

I treat all questions as potential sales and do not block a buyer for showing an interest. In this case the buyer just may have needed to be reassured. Possibly has been burned before.

I stand behind my items so I'd just have answered - "yes".

Yep, The return issues on here are extremely costly. Every year we have at least 3 to 4 grand in remorse returns. Now we usually sell over 100 grand on here a year. That’s not too bad but with fees, shipping, free shipping back this all adds up. Best to avoid a potential problem before it becomes a problem.

Good idea, blocking that sort of thing I mean, I've done the same.

It depends on what the item is. If it's something of higher value or costs a lot to ship, I'd prefer to not sell to a buyer like this. If it's a lower dollar, I probably wouldn't care.
I've had buyers message me a similar question literally asking "If I buy this, can I return it for any reason at all and not lose any money out of it?"

I would block them and then I would answer that in reality the item really looks crappy and has dog hairs on it and it stinks or doesn't work. Say anything that will keep them from bidding. Definitely block.
