Buyer Not Signing For Package/Left it at UPS Access Point

Hello everyone, I'll try to keep it concise as possible with enough detail to provide you proper context!

I've sold an item worth over $1,000.  Shipped it via UPS Ground with signature required to the proper address (matched from PayPal payment address and receipt from UPS store).  Tracking information was provided in ebay sale for buyer to monitor and check.

UPS attempts delivery, but no one is available to receive it at provided address.  UPS leaves notice to pick the package up at a local (to buyer) UPS Access Point.  Package sits there with tracking info being updated by UPS stating that recipient must pick it up within x amount of days or it'll be shipped back to seller.

Fast forward two weeks, UPS will be shipping it back to me because the the buyer is ignoring the package.

In my listing, I specifically mention that there's no returns allowed (within the exception of ofcourse a dispute where the buyer states it's not as described or is damaged).  I've done a little bit of my own research, and it appears to me that this buyer is still "active" in his social media and shopping activity.

What should I expect at this point?  I've done my due-diligence to ship the package out, document the shipping.  I do accept the reality that by selling on eBay, there's always a risk of having to refund someone because of NAD or damage from shipping (or lost), but I don't think it's really fair to have to refund someone who may have had buyers remorse and ignored the package.  Any tips?

ps. I've not reached out to the buyer since shipping and providing tracking information.  As I know anything I say afterwards can usually be used and spun in any way possible during a dispute.

Thanks!

How long until it will be shipped back to you?

The buyer might have intentions of going to get it but is busy...or procrastinating, or possibly the note left on their door by UPS blew off and they have no idea.

I would send a very polite message saying something like, "I recieved notification that UPS tried to deliver your package and is holding it at xxx for you until xxxx. I just thought I'd mention it to you in case you missed their notice"

I could be wrong on this, and other will chime in, but that's probably what I would do.

I'm in a similar situation with a buyer and USPS. The buyer is somewhat malicious, in buying twice from me an not picking either up at post office. I contacted him through ebay messaging to keep everything in the ebay space, and he eventually stopped responding. I referred this quandary to ebay help desk, and they offered to intervene on my behalf and attempted to contact the seller by phone. When the seller heard the caller was from ebay, he immediately hung up, so the help desk advises me to wait for the return from the buyer's post office and consider whether to report the buyer's behavior to alert other ebay help desk people to this problem. The implication was also that ebay would likely remove the seller from ebay after a fuller review of the situation. Of course I will block the buyer as soon as the return is implemented by the USPS. Then I will need to address the issue of a refund.

Wait until the item comes back to you.

Then refund minus shipping cost.

That is how I would handle it.

This appears to be another of the new type of buyer ebay appears to be attracting these days.

Without changes in policies more of the honest ebay buyers and sellers are likely to be leaving, and the future  would appear to be dismal.
