An item I sold arrived badly damaged and so I need to provide the buyer with a return label.
When I go through the return process, I only have an option to upload my own label. I can't buy a return label through eBay, which I was expecting. I've never had to return anything, so I'm a little lost here.
How do I buy a label and upload it?

If item is damaged to a point that you can't do anything with it, you can 'opt' to just refund the customer and they can throw it out (or do whatever with it).
Then, you won't have to pay for that return shipping cost.

You don't "send them anything". When customer opens "return request" CUSTOMER PRINTS LABEL through EBAY and you are billed by EBAY.

Yes, this link was my first stop. The information here suggests that I can select an option called 'Send an eBay Shipping Label', which I cannot do. This option is not provided for me. This page also tells me that to provide my own shipping label, I should upload an image of the shipping label that I want the buyer to use. This leaves out the crucial step of - how do I get the correct label so that the return is recognized by eBay? What is the best practice here?
The information on eBay's page gets me 75% of the way there. I asked my question on this forum hoping for advice from those who have real-world experience in this area.

When I hit "view return details", I have there options:
Upload your own label
Confirm you already sent a label
Confirm you ca't send a label
There doesn't seem to be an option for the buyer to pay for and print the label.

Because the 'return case' is a Not As Described (you must provide return shipping label) or you offer FREE returns.
Use the 'click you cannot send label' and then the system will probably just refund the customer
