How is someone able to use the "buy it now" option for an item that already has a bid? The original bid had been on the item at least two days before it sold "buy it now". I have had this happen 2 times in the past couple of months. I called Ebay when it happened the first time. I was told to ship the item to the "buy it now bidder". This is not fair to the original bidder. I am confused as to why this happened. Anyone know the answer?

The Help page doesn't mention this any more, but there are 4 categories where the BIN option remains available until the bidding reaches 50% of the BIN price: tickets, cell phones, clothing and motors parts.
Earlier today I saw a thread about a listing where the BIN remained available even after this 50% was reached, so there's also a chance that this is the "glitch of the day."

"Sticky" BINs.
