Business Account

Hello, I want to create a business account but I need some guidance please.

I have a registered Fictitious Business Name in California but I am conducting business as a sole proprietor not LLC.

Which option should I use below?

Yes, my business is a legal entity
From here, we'll help you identify what type of business you have.
No, I manage my business as a sole proprietor or owner
This means you're selling under your own name, not as a registered business.

Select your legal entity

Single-member LLC (Limited Liability Company)
A business entity—registered with a state—that is owned by one member

Corporation/multi-member LLC
A business entity—registered with a state—that is owned by one or more shareholders or stockholders (in the case of a corporation) or more than one member (in the case of an LLC)

Partnership
Two or more people operating under a written or unwritten partnership agreement

Re: Business Account

I would probably seek advice from your tax professional and follow his or her advice before putting too much credence on anything advised on these boards in matters such as this.

Re: Business Account

Just wondering, what did you end up doing? I'm now having to explore this due to the INFORM act, as I'd like to avoid my personal information being displayed for buyers. Thank you.

I believe you'd have to sell $5000+ of new items per year for INFORM.

Re: Business Account

$5000.00 is true for basic INFORM act compliance. If you sell $20,000.00 in NEW items, eBay will have to list your Name and Address on your items.

Re: Business Account

Not sure exactly what you mean by a "fictitious business name" but this may be dependent upon multiple Federal and more importantly State laws with regards to a business account. Follow 7606dennis suggestion and talk to a tax professional who knows the tax laws in your state.
