Not going into a full story on this, eBay knows the truth.
** REMOVE THE EBAY CONTROLLED BIDDING BOTS **
Bidding had become a JOKE and OVERPRICED
Most bidders are fake accounts, which end up "no longer being registered" once the item closes and never pay when they win.
Fix this eBay.

What "bidding bots"? "Most bidders are fake accounts." And you have proof of this?
You probably should return to your home site, eBay.com.au, and post your complaint there.

Another good conspiracy. Love the fake news.

If you have buyers who have not paid within 48 hours of the end of the auction or listing, regardless of whether they're "bidding bots" or not, shouldn't you be opening unpaid item cases?
Exactly what are "bidding bots"?

I simply do not believe your assertion that "most bidders" go NARU after the item closes.
I've been on eBay over 20 years and I don't think this has never happened to me.

Without going into the full story it is hard for us to be able to offer any useful advice or even understand what it is that you are complaining about.
Are you talking about sniping?

Yet you have nothing for sale...............

Actually, the sniper tool is one of the best things I've ever seen on eBay. If you have something on auction that is highly sort after, it is very entertaining to the current bid double in the last 3 seconds. I mentioned to a buyer that I didn't realize these items went for so much, he told me that he sets the sniper with a $500 bid and it goes where it goes, as long has he has covered any high bids. When you have 2 people using this tool it's great!

I always bid in the last 10 seconds of an auction and I'm not a bot.

How badly do you want an item? Set your maximum bid at the highest price you are willing to pay for it.
07-25-2020 07:42 AM
Exactly. And do that as late in the auction as you feel comfortable, even in the last few minutes.
That way, if you win, great. If you don't, then someone else valued the item more than you did.
Pretty simple.

I'm not at all surprised to find out that I'm not the first person to suspect that eBay could be running non-paying, fake accounts with zero feedback and it should not surprise sellers to hear it. Look at the amount of shady business practices of which eBay is already guilty. eBay employees were recently arrested by the FBI for stalking and harassing a couple of bloggers, at the behest of the CEO and other executives. You really think they wouldn't run shill accounts on their own platform; a system they have complete control over, with no outside oversight??
Actually think about this. eBay wants everyone to use Good Til Cancelled / Buy It Now. That much is quite obvious to any seller with a brain. Yet a percentage of people continue to use Auction. Hmm, gee, I wonder what they could do to encourage 100% compliance with their Buy It Now scheme without flagrantly ditching the image of the online auction that their brand is built upon.
When you look up the problem of zero-feedback non-paying bidders, you can find several threads where the suggested 'solution' is simply to use Buy It Now instead of Auction.
When you look at eBay's lack of meaningful response to this problem, you'd have to be dense not to be suspicious about eBay's motives and possible involvement. Wouldn't it be in their best interest to address the problem, instead of quietly watching it drive people away from using auction style listings??
I understand people not believing that is the case, but to outright poo poo on someone for suggesting it seems really naive. The accusation is not nearly as outlandish as some of you are making it out to be. It's actually more likely than unlikely, based on the history of eBay's business practices.
Ask yourself; who has a financial / business incentive to discourage auction style listings? The only answers are rival sellers, rival e-commerce platforms, or eBay itself. It's illogical to assume that all of these non-paying junk accounts are simply trolls trying to mess with people for no reason.

I know it stinks when you get sniped but the auction goes to the highest bid - not the latest. If you are this upset over not winning the auction then that should tell you that you really would have been willing to bid more.
Next time slam in your single highest bid. That way you will not feel as bad if you dont win because obviously someone was willing to pay more and did.

Absolutely not. That's the equivalent of showing your cards while placing a bet. When I bid in an eBay auction, I snipe at 4 seconds before the auction ends. You can't let them see you coming.

I really dont see where you two are disagreeing. You wait for the last possible second and you slam in your single highest bid. If you win - great. If you dont then someone else wanted it more.
But you have to know yourself and know what you would REALLY set as you maximum bid because you are giving yourself one chance at the very end. You are doing it this way so that no one else will have time to bid against you. But at the same time you are also not giving yourself any chance to get carried away and overbid to try and win. So your one bid has to be your highest because otherwise you will be kicking yourself for not bidding more.
