I have a buyer who messaged me to change the shipping address, because if not "it's going to my parents house and they have no need for it."

I had already shipped it out before and told the buyer that. He responds that "No matter. If it gets to them I'll just return it and buy it again from you but this time to my address."

As with another recent buyer... this reply left a bad taste in my mouth (because these listings have free shipping). I thought to myself and was this close to telling the buyer "Why don't you just have your parents ship the package to you rather than ship it back to me?" Is this guy blockworthy? This sorta crosses the line into free shipping abuse.

Anybody you please is 'block worthy', no permission needed. I don't use my block list much, but retain the right to refuse service, just like any other merchant. Free shipping allows this kind of abuse because the buyer has no real skin in the game (I'm assuming that this buyer will simply have the package refused and return to sender). Hopefully this doesn't happen often!

I can't stand when buyers pull stuff like that. If mom and dad can put it in the mail to return it, then mom and dad can put it in the mail and forward it to Johnny Boy instead. They're buying a shipping label either way.

I'd suggest that they:

Pick it up from Mom & Dad themself if they live nearby or plan to see them at Thanksgiving/holidays.
Ask Mom & Dad to ship it to them.
Let the buyer know how to buy a shipping label online that they can e-mail to Mom & Dad, so there's no excuse that a return is easier because eBay generates the label.

Changing the shipping address that eBay provides voids the eBay seller guarantee. Our advice is just say "no". It is becoming very difficult to sell on this platform as eBay protocols are very black and white and the site is very compromised currently. Use the KISS method. Good Luck

Well, in this particular case, the seller could not change the address anyway because the package is already on its way to the address given by the buyer when he paid.

I would block and then wait and see what happens. Mommy and Daddy will probably send the package onto the young adult with the child attitude.

If the open a return case, provide the e-mail comments from buyer and timeline. You may also need to go through eBay C.S. via Facebook to get real support.

I don't think the return is the issue. The issue seems to be whether to allow the buyer to purchase from the OP a second time.

The buyer doesn't need to open a return case. The OP offers free returns on 99% of his listings.

It's not the return that's the issue--it's whether the OP should sell to the buyer a second time.

Over the last several decades large corporations have used the customer is always right mantra. So instead of educating consumers we have bread a more entitled consumer. You don't have to be mean but you shouldn't be afraid of blocking buyers if they are abusive to you or your policies.
