Bidders retracting bids

Don’t you love it when you see your auction doing well and on the last day two or three bidders retract their bids and boom your auction ends now your stuck selling for far less than you thought and the buyer just so happens to sell the same kind of stuff for much more. Seems a little odd that just so happens like that. Here’s my theory John Doe buyer has more than one account and bids the item very high now all people interested look for a better deal else where and at the end John Doe  seller retracts high bids gets it for next to nothing to turn around and have a buy it now for profit. (Hasn’t happened latley to me but definitely has happened before.

another scenario auction ends buyer doesn’t pay  wait four days relist meanwhile item isn’t hot anymore and the value plummets.

happened to me before as well

Re: Bidders retracting bids

Well is there are sellers out there doing that and you can prove it, Contact Ebay and they will take care of them.

With that said, if there were sellers doing that, it would be sellers with a lot of time on their hands.  So they aren't sellers with a lot of transactions / buyers to deal with in the first place.  It would be a lousy business plan to be sure.

Buyers not paying is a completely different type of issue.  For that, make sure you have your site preferences for Buyer Requirements set to the strictest possible requirement on unpaid items which is 2 unpaid strikes in the past 12 months.

Do NOT send out reminder invoices for those that aren't paying.  The clock for the cancellation resets every time you send an invoice.  Then ALWAYS file your Cancellations for Not Paying 96 hours after they purchased the item.

When that buyer has 2 unpaid strikes they will start experiencing being block from being able to bid or purchase from a whole lot of sellers.  It is a very good tool if sellers will use it.

Ebay is still testing this, so likely early next year all of this should start resolving for you.  Ebay will be adding a requirement that when a buyer places a bid they also have to give a payment source to be charged if they are the winning bidder.

If you look at your Buyer Requirements, you will see the requirement is already there, but it isn't active for all of us yet and they likely won't bring it sitewide until after the Holiday season.
