I am new to selling large items on ebay, so any help would be much appreciated!
I am selling generators that are $6,000.00 and up, but the large fees ebay is taking is really affecting my margins. Does anybody have a good way around taking a $600 hit on each transaction?
I did start an eBay store which is supposed to cap the max final value fee at $350 (if i remember correctly). This still seems like a lot for such a large ticket item though.

You can go to this page a see the seller fees for different categories. Now if you can figure out how to list them in the correct Business and Industrial category..............
Selling on eBay isn't cheap.

There is the Classified Ads. Not sure how you list one or if generators are allowed. Something you may want to read about.

$350 is the best you're going to get. Be sure that your store is at the Basic level or above, since the Starter store still has the $750 limit. Also, that store final value fee rate and limit will only apply to listings that began after you signed up for the store, and for fixed price listings after their rollover date. So if you signed up for the store after listing your items, you need to end those listings and relist.

Friendly advice that's slightly off topic - be aware of the risks of selling expensive, heavy items on eBay. If a buyer decides something is wrong, there are scenarios where - best case - you'll be paying to ship it and retrieve it from them, and worst case you'll lose the money and the merchandise. And while you may list items with no returns, not offering them can seriously hurt you when dealing with a malicious buyer. This may already be factored into your business model, but, the more you know...

Give an eBay exec a fun time..

Fees may be high than you anticipated because fee are based on (purchase price + shipping costs + sales tax).

I found the Fees for eBay's Classified Ads, but I can not find the Classified ads. Can anyone post a link to the Classified listings?

That's not how it works--there isn't a specific section for classified ads.
Search for a product or service in one of the categories that allows classified ads (Business & Industrial, Specialty Services, Travel, or Everything Else). On the left-hand side of the results page, filter the ads by selecting “Classified Ads” under “Buying Format.” The results will be the classified ads.

Ok, I see. So you can not just scan the Classified looking for stuff you don't need. You have to be looking for something specific to see if it is in the Classified. Thanks

Yeah, just include the fee in the price of the item, simple business, you can't lose money or you'll go broke.

I also would like to urge caution, on ebay "no returns" is spelled out thusly:
Return policy details
Seller does not offer returns.
Refer to eBay Return policy for more details. You are covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee if you receive an item that is not as described in the listing.
Let me translate what the buyer reads:
Ohhh so if my item is NOT AS DESCRIBED I should be good, WHEW!!!
You may wish to go read that MBG.
Granted, for $6 big uns I'd be willing to get the authorities involved but let me tell you, there are videos on youtube about this.
