Best Method for Removing Price Stickers/Clearance Stickers/Return Stickers??

Anyone have any great tricks?

Usually just use goo gone, but this pallet is a return pallet to Best Buy, Frys, REI, World Market and Pier One.  Pier One are all closeout stickers and multiples on each item.  This is taking forever and does not help I am sitting in a mosty-toasty warehouse with no A/C, just a giant fan.

Please share your best tactics to safely rid your product of stickers of all types - these return stickers are monster-sized and not coming off at all!  Help!

"Tell me more.............there are a ton of 409 variants..........I have a few of them - which one do you use?"

The label on the spray bottle reads "Formula 409 All Purpose Cleaner -- Now Kills Bacteria!"

I learned about 409 from another old-time book dealer, who'd been using it since the late 1970s -- just a few undiluted squirts on a paper towel, and a little light rubbing, and most of the gunk loosens up enough to wipe away.

Give it a try!

I heard somewhere PEANUT BUTTER but have never tried it.

I use Simple Green and a scrubber sponge.

Usually Goo Gone or Goof Off (which is basically like Paint Thinner, so exercise caution), I also have several scraper tools &/or just use a razor blade in many cases.  Sometimes plain alcohol works or hairspray on marker & ink.   You probably know all these though.

Is that a product itself or a chemical to use?  Does it damage surfaces??

I would think Peanut Butter would cause a bigger mess than I have in the heat!  LOL

Also, if they are sticky, sometimes another sticky on top, will pull the whole thing.  Either a sticky tape or a shipping label (if you use the stick on kind).   This doesn't always work, but when it works, it works well & quickly.  Worth a try on one to see if it will work.

ETA:  Also, if they are on shrink wrap, sometimes I just cut them out & disclose that there are holes on the shrink wrap.

It's a chemical that's a product.  Read instructions before using.

I like to use nail polish remover if its really tuff

lighter  fluid/naptha also works good and does not smell as bad as nail polish remover

I read the other day that suntan lotion works good

I only take stickers off of watch cases

I have nail polish remover - could try that.  These return stickers they wrote on with a sharpie and often missed the sticker, writing on the item surface.  Miserable to get off.

@katzrul15   Most adhesives  are petroleum based so as @1tuna mentioned lighter fluid will work, I've used 3 in 1 oil, No Odor mineral spirits, etc.  The big question is whether or not the fluid used for removal will degrade the item.

Another trick is get some duct tape and use its sticky side to pull the other adhesive off (press - pull - repeat)... if the adhesive is not too old this will work ... it takes a little time but if the item can not have fluids applied this is a good alternative.

Rubbing alcohol works sometimes too ...

Try Rubbing Alcohol.  Sometimes that works well

Many of these are a carboard box - so usually goo gone might work, but leaves a stain.  Will see if there is any duct tape here in the warehouse - likely no, but might make a quick Wally World run and grab some and look for the chemical suggested above.  Otherwise, I might be here days, just removing stickers!  Ugh!

Re: Best Method for Removing Price Stickers/Clearance Stickers/Return Stickers??

@katzrul15  I peel as much sticker off as possible then remove the residual adhesive ... if you are trying to remove the sticker itself just try peeling up a corner then see if the rest of it peels off easily.

If the cardboard is brown you will most likely pull some of it off.  If the cardboard has a finish on it then the sticker might peel off more readily ... how about a nifty pic of what you are trying to remove?

Re: Best Method for Removing Price Stickers/Clearance Stickers/Return Stickers??

Sharpie usually comes off with alcohol.  Pen ink with hairspray.

Nail polish remover is simply a weak acetone.  Just use straight acetone (which many of us use as nail polish remover), just be careful you don't get it on your clothes, etc & of course, it IS highly flammable.

ETA: Honestly, on cardboard, just take a box cutter & cut that piece out & disclose.
