Be aware! Scam on eBay!

cerhio74

Sent video card to buyer. He opened return case and the reason he indicated was: "I don't know who could change the package." I wrote him a few time asking to explain what happened, he didn't answer. After 5 days since he received my package I accepted a return and paid for return shipping label. The buyer didn't send item back and after more 1 week eBay decided to refund him because: "...buyer received an empty box" and "he was able to provide a documentation to support the claim". WHAT???!!! No money, no item and now I have to pay to eBay more than $100 for this scam transaction! That's insane! 12 years eBay account, more than 1000 feedbacks, positives only and now I sent empty box?! Who else was caught on this scheme?

Re: Be aware! Scam on eBay!

Yea... the receipt would be helpful... But you know what, eBay even didn't ask me if I have it. I didn't do something wrong, I did everything as their rules says. They suggest to buy this shipping label online to avoid the line at post office and save the time. What if I wouldn't be able to get to the post office and a postman picked that up? Is it crime, ore one of the legal options? I did everything, I tried to connect to the buyer, accepted the return... explained everything via phone calls to eBay support, told them that it's very suspicious buyer's behavior and then BUM... eBay took a part in this scam. Then eBay warned me that they will charge me for this scam transaction for $103. It's sad...

Re: Be aware! Scam on eBay!

Things that I've learned while being a member of this community. When it comes to eBay:

1) Buyer is always right

2) Sellers is always wrong

3) Never sell anything you can't afford to loose

4) If in doubt, go back an re-read from 1)

Is sad, scammers are out there and have made it difficult for sellers to participate. The process has been tipped towards the buyers and sellers have little to no protection. Heck, there are youtube tutorials showing how you can scam a seller, its sad. High value items are best sold locally, cash only. Good luck.

Re: Be aware! Scam on eBay!

eBay makes it very easy for buyers to get over on sellers.

Re: Be aware! Scam on eBay!

The problem is eBay, and they will tell you this, has no proof of what you actually shipped regardless of the pictures of the package and box, and they have no proof of what the buyer actually received or said they didn't receive. However, eBay is always going to side with the buyer without substantial proof. There is nothing wrong with not getting a receipt from the post office but it's one piece of evidence you don't have.

WIth it you could have filed a claim/report with USPS for potential mail fraud and/or theft and it would have been additional evidence to put in a police report to the buyers local police department. All of which could have been uploaded when reporting the buyer to eBay.
