Basic Store

Hi all! I have just over 1,000 books listed right now and I just upgraded my Starter Store to the Basic Store. If I’m correct, with the 1,000 free listings, and an additional 10,000 (since books fall in the extra 10,000 ‘select categories’) I will have zero insertion fees on all of my listings. I’m trying to make sure I’m understanding it all right. Thanks!

It's definitely a big jump from the Starter Store (which barely offers any benefits worth having to many users, though there are some cases it might be worth it).  In fact, I'm in the opposite boat on the account the company I work for uses for selling; we're likely to downgrade to a Basic Store from a Premium Store because most of our listings are in those categories that qualify for the 10,000 free additional insertions, and we've been overpaying for probably a couple years, since whenever they introduced that benefit.

Yes, you should get up to 11,000 free listings.

You'll see a notice if there is a fee for your listing, it's right above the "List It" button.

Normally it will say $0.00 if it says $0.25 or similar, look at the fee.

Did you read the policy pages that tell you the benefits of each store.  It is very informative.

I see this for a basic store. Where are the 10,000 free listings for books?

If you look at the link provided by mam, you will see that books is one of the select categories for fixed price under the additional 10k listings for a basic store.   Your link doesn't appear complete or maybe it's an old one.

Yes, I've read through it. I should’ve switched to a Basic Store sooner for sure!

Sadly this is just another thing that Ebay is not consistent between policy pages.  It can be very misleading.  But this page shows all the benefits of having a store and the complete list of categories available for the extra 10,000 fixed price listings.

https://www.ebay.com/help/fees-billing/sell-fees-payments/store-selling-fees-managed-payments-seller...

You can use your 'select categories' fixed price listings allocation in the following categories:

  • Sports Mem, Cards & Fan Shop > Sports Trading Cards
  • Toys & Hobbies > Collectible Card Games
  • Collectibles
  • Music
  • Books & Magazines
  • Movies & TV
  • Video Games & Consoles > Video Games
  • Stamps
  • Crafts
  • Home & Garden > Greeting Cards & Party Supply > Party Supplies

I can see that. 10,000 free listings is a pretty large number. I’m not sure if I’ll ever exceed that number 😄 It took me 3 years to get to my 1,000!

You may have overlooked it, but I gave you the link to all that information in the third post on the thread.

I had a Premium store until they added this 10,000 free listings as I sell in a couple of those categories.  When they first changed it they allowed us to downgrade our stores without penalty, so I took advantage of it.

Please remember you can keep track of just how many free listings you have left on your Seller Hub, as there is a tile for that.
