I'm so mad and I know I shouldn't be but it's really frustrating when you try and be a good seller and get bad reviews.
I have had 3.
First one I sent the wrong item...it was a game, I grabbed a similar named game and it was totally my error. i refunded him, told him to keep the wrong game and sent the correct game asap.. Still gave me a bad review. I accepted it.
Second one. Sold a man a product thats one of those as seen on tv things. It's a sonic pic., he Left me a bad review with no contact and just said it didnt work. Nothing I cant do anything if he didnt contact me.
Now heres the third one. And I'm mad at myself for even trying to work with this guy. He bought a vintage tool, it was a square. It's like 70 years old...literally. I had posted 6 pictures showing the condition. and even though its heavy metal I packed the box great and it couldnt move at all.
I get a return request, it was damaged in transit and unusable. Sent a picture, it looked fine to me just like it left here but he claimed it was bent like a banana.
Against my better judgement and because he had opened a return request through ebay and I hear you always lose if you try and fight it and I didnt want him to leave me a bad review, I told him dont worry about shipping it back and Refunded him in full.
That was last week. Today I get bad review that my pictures are poor quality that hid the poor condition. If he thought the pictures were so poor why did he buy if?
I'm just frustrated, I try so hard to do what's best and still I keep getting these bad reviews.
My rating is down to 96.2
Just to clarify I cant try and get anyone to remove this feedback since I refunded him and in his refund request he said item was damaged in transit and in the review he said my pictures hid the poor quality?
I'm sorry this is so long and I know I shouldn't be emotional, Im trying to shake it off now.

A couple of things.
First, feedback (reviews are different and not much used) is not used by eBay to assess accounts. They are considered only opinions.
Second, most eBay buyers shop price not seller. This means your 96.2% FB looks like an "A" to them.
Third.
Well, you messed up on the third neg and also on the neutral , which you didn't mention.
And it sounds as if there is a fourth neg in the offing for the square.
If you are confusing a square and a tape measure though, frankly you are having trouble with concentrating. That would be two mixups and one example of inadequate packaging in the past year.
Time to up your game before you start getting Defects-- which really do affect your account.
You should probably do some buying on this account to earn some positive feedback. Choose sellers who leave feedback on shipment.

you can request the buyers revise their feedback, about all you can do aside from mailing them again and being polite as pie.

Did you know that you can respond to feedback?
Just don't do it while you are still mad.
Apologize and explain the action you took to try to make it right.
Don't whine. Don't make excuses.

it's really frustrating when you try and be a good seller and get bad reviews
A buyer does not care if you are trying to be a good seller, or if you are a good seller most of the time. The buyer only cares whether you were a good seller when it comes to his transaction.
First one I sent the wrong item
You were not a good seller when it came to his transaction.
Second one. Sold a man a product thats one of those as seen on tv things
In your item title, you stated that it "Removes Plaque Tartar Stains Whitens Teeth". When you tell a buyer that a product will perform, they have the right to expect it to perform. That feedback was not a product review; it was commentary on claims that you made in your title.
Now heres the third one. He bought a vintage tool, it was a square.
I'm confused; I do not see a negative for a square. Was that sold on a different account? All I see is a 12" tape measure.
You also got a neutral claiming you sent a DVD in a paper envelope with no padding. Is that true?

The teeth whitener. Purely a product review. You don't MAKE the stuff! I think you have a good chance of getting that removed. Good luck!
If you buy a DVD and don't like the movie, should you leave a negative feedback? LOL

Honestly, and I'm not saying this to be mean or critical. I think you need to clean up some of the seller sloppiness I see and is reflected in the feedback, like poor quality pics, bad descriptions, etc.
A neg here or there is expected, but you're starting to build somewhat of a track record and it's showing.

Thank you for your answer. I had forgotten about that neutral because it was when I first started. And that was my fault, at the time I thought an envelope was enough. It wasnt.
I guess the reason I mixed up a square and tape measure was the tape measure was over a month ago and I had put it in my mind as over and done with. To be clear the correct people got the correct items, it was just me who confused who the review was from
This square was pretty fresh in my mind.
I agree I need to up my game. Now that I've calmed down, I realize I have to be more proactive then I was before. I think I got complacent.
If there is any doubt about condition,Ill make sure I point out blemishes and make sure my pictures are clear.
I removed all my products that were "as seen on tv": because I think that I'll eventually get another bad review because the item wont work the way they advertise it will.
And I've decided not to list any more vintage tools. I'm obviously not knowledgeable about them. If I listed 2 and both had an issue.
Thank you for your help. I truly appreciate it

The majority of your feedback is just fine and your responses to the few negs was appropriate. I would not sweat the negs too much but you do need to improve the photos and get rid of the flash when it reflects back to the camera. I rarely use flash but when I do I usually mark the photos as "flash enhanced". Get a good photo editor, I use Gimp and it is free, that will allow you to vary the brightness and contrast of your photos.

Oh, I've had a few of those in my time here.
Got a few from people buying an item and they didn't know what the item was. Like who would you buy something they don't know what it is or what it is even for?
Got a negative once for a 3.75" C3PO because it was too small to give as a gift as if 3.75" means different things depending on the day.
Usually the bulk of my negatives from the last few years are from what I call "drive-by noobs". People relatively new to ebay that don't know the MBG or how to message.
They buy a low dollar item, don't like it for some reason and just leave a donut with no follow up or responses to messages.
Fine keep it then, whatever.
On to the next fire.

It is ironic that your buyers have complained about $8 and $10 items that seem like bargains to me. Yet, I know a dealer who has sold multimillion dollar coins to several buyers yet never had a single issue.
Maybe you should raise your sights to pricier items to eliminate the cheap, insecure kook clients?

You have some really great advice. GIMP is great for photo editing -we also use Photoshop and adobe has a free user friendly version that is great also.
Turning your flash off and editing just a little, will help a great deal.
Yes, buy some items (large booksellers, buy 2 get 1 free) would help your feedback as well.
Good luck. It has been a rough couple of days for Sellers on this board. Keep trying. Some days, that is all we have.

as far as photos go, common rule is never use flash! Using a expensive camera or you iphone that rule always applies!
Take photographs during Day time will give better results especially if don't own lamps to lighten your photo area... take advantage of the sunlight. If you do use lamps use daylight bulbs (other wise your photos will contain yellowish tint).
I use Adobe Photoshop CS mostly, just need to use auto set color then adjustments > levels > brightness/contrast and then selective color to make sure white background is completely white. Don't cut anything out or try to mask anything, most of those kind of edits can easily be seen in the photos and makes buyers weary. If photo didn't come out as good as hoped, retake it in that case.

Speaking of photos.
If it is flat, like a book or a DVD, scan it. You get better resolution, no shaky hands, and no weird perspective.
@certifiedcitynet is right. We get more complaints from bargain hunters than from buyers who are able to understand that good products cost money.
Every bargain hunter thinks he is cheating you, and that you are cheating him. Not worth dealing with them.
