Geez, this has been like giving birth to get this deal done.
If I send an offer, IPR is automatically gone, correct? Because buyer has some lame excuse reason for not being able to pay for two more days.
But the listing will show as sold, correct? He's worried about someone else buying the widget in those 2 days.

If someone sends an offer, it has to be accepted before the listing appears as sold. There will be no immediate payment required when an offer is accepted.

Sherry, Em's right but if you don't want the IPR to go away, you can revise your listing to the agreed upon price and then let your potential buyer know. You can set a time limit on it to inspire them to action, such as the price will stay that way for 24 or 48 hrs before being revised back to the original price.
This way the IPR would stay intact and wouldn't go away as with accepting an offer. Buyer would need to move fast to secure the price you revised it to so the item would be theirs. You can coordinate this to their payment schedule if need be.
Just a thought, your call. Just offered this in case you are really reluctant to give up that IPR.

I believe just the opposite, because the buyer indicated he cannot pay for a couple of days, OP is hoping immediate payment required will disappear.

I'm sorry if my post was unclear. I wasn't saying the buyer wasn't hoping for the IPR to go away. I just offered Sherry a way to keep the IPR if she really wanted to, that's all. She may not want to do that until the buyer can pay in two days, but that is her call. She can message the buyer if she intends to do that, and it might give her more confidence that the buyer actually will pay.

The buyer is going to accept the offer as soon as I send it; just want to make sure no one else can purchase after buyer accepts but doesn't pay for two days.
I can't handle another communication/explanation/change message, lol.
Thanks, guys !!
If, and I don't think this will happen, buyer doesn't pay I can always cancel with problem with buyer or whatever that is. Right?
Can you tell I just do simple IPR listings and it all rocks on. Knock on wood.

No, that's not a valid cancellation reason. You'd have to go through the unpaid item claim process, unless the buyer requested a cancellation.

Thanks, n_p. You can also tell how many cancellations I've dealt with since those reasons went into effect. Not many, like none. Which is good. But it could also be a reflection of how much less I'm selling. Which is bad.

Okay, at this point you are starting to make his problem your problem. If you're genuinely okay with selling the widget for whatever he's offering, then just lower your BuyItNow price to the new value, keep the Immediate Payment Required setting in place, and sell to the first person who coughs up the necessary payment. There's no reason why he's somehow entitled to not only lower your price but also keep you waiting around for him to take action.

I know you're right, ac, but this is one of those bird in hand things. Or at least feathers, maybe one wing and a beak. Fairly certain it will happen and don't want to chance losing it. I'm not relisting the widget here.

Indeed that is what she wants. Lowering the price to the agreed upon amount is a really bad idea because she’s trying to accommodate her buyer and this would leave the item up for grabs. Another buyer could swoop in. She should send the offer like she planned. When the buyer accepts it, the listing will end and he can pay in a few days. That’s what she wants.

Yes! When the buyer accepts the offer the item is sold. IPR doesn't apply, buyer can take whatever length of time you allow them to pay. As long as they pay, they get the widget.
Into your life it will creep

Well, okay, sure, but at least wait until you hear back from him that he's ready to buy (i.e. pay for it), and then lower the BuyItNow price at that time. No need to lower it earlier. Someone else may be happy to grab it at its original price before Mister Delayed Payment gets around to it.

Offer accepted last night. Just wanted to update those who were losing sleep about my issues.
Of course, I forgot to remove the shipping cost from the offer, which was part of the deal, but geez, I was running around like a crazy person trying to get ready for kids showing up today to "help" with putting up our tree. Which meant hiding all kids-and-adults-related gift thingies. "Grandma, why is my 8 iron in your office?" "Well, sonny, so Santa can look online and find the rest of the clubs in that Titleist set for you."
Thanks to all for your help.
Signed,
Still Sharp As A Tack Old Woman Who Has Never Sold On Ebay Before...Hah

You can send an invoice with an adjusted shipping cost.
