Yesterday (Sun morning) I put my store on Vacation mode, well rather "time away" now it's called mode. A nor'easter was coming and here it is now. 2 feet snow, undriveable, state/towns emergencies etc etc.
Anywho. Later in the evening I made a sale. In the away time mode I put listings to still show and sell, but will notify buyers that I am away and shipping will resume the day I come back (which I put for this Tuesday, (tomorrow), so since I have 1 Day shipping, it would notify them I resume shipping on Wednesday. It also said, I do not have to worry about editing any listings and it will automatically change it etc. I checked my store and it says I am away, expect delay in shipping.
Lo and be hold, today My seller's page is yelling at me to ship within 24 hours. Really? lol What am I missing? ..
I emailed the buyer and explained everything. Never heard back as of yet, that was many hours ago. But I did e-mail.
Then I dug little more and my listings say delivery date if I bought something now would be about Thurs-Friday delivery.. Which would not be the case since my time away would be resuming Wednesday.
Ultimately, if I end up getting docked for a late shipment. Would I have a case with Ebay to get that removed?
TIA,
me

You must hide your listings to avoid shipping dings.

@celtinner_2. Time away is supposed to automatically change your handling time for listings that remain active.
I suggest that you hide the rest of your listings.
brittanie@ebay. tyler@ebay. brian@ebay.
I have seen other reports of this happening. Is there a glitch or is the help page incorrect?
When you allow item sales to continue while you're away, it's important to remember the following points:

When using TIME AWAY you have 2 options (allow customer to make purchases or don't allow purchases). If you allow purchases...you have to manually change your "handling time" so you won't get "dinged" for late deliveries.

When I put my store on vacation mode I had to do a bulk change in my handling time too so I wouldn't get hit with a late shipping defect.

Just trying to make sure I understand.
I also put my store on Time Away due to the storm, and set it for a return date of Wed....with one day handling, that means I need to ship Thursday the 4th. If I go to "Manage Orders Awaiting Shipment" in Orders in Seller Hub, the sale I made since applying Time Away says "Ship by Feb 4" in the left hand column...which is correct.
Have you looked at the "Ship By" date in "Manage Orders Awaiting Shipment" to see what it says there?

Not according to Ebay

Yes 2 options. But see above if you set to leave your listings live

Yup.. That's exactly what I did. But the sale says Ship by Feb 1st still..
Side note: I set time away Sunday morning. Even though on Ebay's page said it may take a few hours to show up. The sale was made in the evening.

I put my store on TA sometime Sunday afternoon as I recall. And the notice to the buyers appeared on my listing within minutes. (My sale occurred today, unlike yours, which was Sunday)
HOWEVER, looking now at my Time Away setting, ebay says I'm away from January 31, 2021, 12:00 AM till Feb 3, 2021, at 11:59 PM PT. Now, I did not schedule my TA to begin Sunday at midnight (which is 12 AM), I thought it was taking effect when I turned it on.....which was many hours before midnight. As I said, buyers were certainly notified before Midnight.
Take a look at your setting...does it also say Sunday Jan 31 at 12:00 AM? I think that might be the problem. The Time Away notice to buyers surfaced when it should have, but ebay is incorrectly recording it as beginning at 12:00 AM, and so any sale that occurs between the time you actually set it on Sunday and Sunday Midnight Pacific Time, (which is 3AM Monday morning here on the East Coast) is NOT being treated as part of your Time Away.
If I'm right, this is a major screw-up that needs to be addressed quickly before more sellers get burned.

Wow. Never thought of it that way. And if that is the case, that should be something that is mentioned right there when you set your away time. Does make sense now if that is the case. At the same time I find the system they have in place should definitely be changed to start right when you set the mode on. Very unfair shadowy aspect.
Going to check on that now. And thank you for the replies. 🙂
Looking like a nice long phone call I will have to have with Ebay.
Wish me luck!

Best of luck. I'm going to try to bring this up at this week's weekly chat.
02-01-2021 10:53 PM
Checked on it.
Says Jan 31st 12:00am I started away till Feb 2nd 11:59pm
Which you are right their clock times are wrong.. However, Jan 31st 12:00am technically means I am away all Sunday thru Monday night until clock ticks 12:00am Monday which would put it as Tuesday.
So in their odd clock timings, the sale I made Sunday, should of set my shipping on extended times.
Going to battle this.. ugh.

- The estimated delivery date will also be automatically updated in the Shipping and Delivery section of your listings, so you don't need to make any manual changes
To me it reads that the delivery time will be extended, doesn't say anything about the shipping/handling time.
Would it be normal to assume it would? I would say yes/absolutely. eBay on the other hand may think something different.
I don't know much about late shipment/delivery dings, if the delivery scan is within the delivery window doesn't that override any not scanned within handling time ding?

slippinjimmy,
One of the differences between the old Vacation Setting and Time Away is that there is no need to extend handling time. I have one day handling time. So, if I set Time Away on Sunday to be back Wed, ebay will apply my one day handling time to that. So, if I'm going to be home Wed, ebay will tell me to ship any sales I made while on Time Away on Thursday (the next business day).
