I just noticed when a buyer won our auction, that they are not paying now because it says Autopay...buyer wants to shop more and they don't have to pay for another week??? What is this?

Cancel the order at 96 hours and 1 second, citing 'Buyer didn't pay'. That'll get them a slap on the wrist and you can relist.

I don't think that applies for Auto-Pay AND the extended 7 day period turned on. It's still Auto-Pay but the buyer has 7 days to accumulate purchases.

This is something that sellers wanted and eBay gave it to them.

The auto pay auction with the 7 day period  turned  ,The OP can't cancel the order.    I have  a second ID   for selling .  I have not been happy with eBay sticking their nose in  ,with the quick Fix  bandage  use  Auto-pay   in   make  a offer  or  the  auctions with auto-payment    That we sellers have to opted out of   .  when  comes to  with  to some lazy sellers that don't want to use the tools eBay has in place for so many years  to deal with payment  issues   in category's  that draw a high number  buyers that don't  pay.   Those  sellers should   use   BIN with IPR  if they need the money fast .

Let's consider what some sellers love : 'repeat buyers'...and actually 'repeat buyers' are about 75+% of my buyers.

If you only want  a buyer to buy one thing and maybe never ever return I can understand your frustration.

But auctions are set up as such where buyers can sit before paying you.

If you wanted the money immediately after sold  I recommend 'buy it now' or a 'best offer' option.

When I did auctions it was usually the same buyers who won my auctions...

Ah. Thank you for the update... won't give that advice again. I quit selling a year ago and am quite behind the times... 🤐

eBay explained this as a "test" presented to SOME buyers when YOU retain the "Buyer Rules" in the default set to YES or ON that eBay gave you.  As a seller, the "test" that allows delayed payment for up a week by the buyer is NOT controlled by you.  You can see the settings for the Buyer Rules here:

https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/buyerrequirements

Buyer Rules:

*Require buyers to provide a payment method before they place a bid.

*Require buyers to provide a payment method before they make an offer.

Click submit or save.

What these do, is to first limit the payment choices a buyer can use,  AND the removes the possibility of combining multiple auction wins for an adjusted shipping price.  This requires a buyer to put up a payment source in order to bid at all, and if they won multiple items from you, they would be billed automatically, separately, and at full shipping price for each.

A buyer may have fallen for this once, but likely not again.  Since this was very unpopular with buyers (and subsequently reduced sales) eBay is trying something "new" to entice a buyer to try again.  LOL...

If you NEVER want to encourage multiple sales/combined shipping, you need to keep the Buyer Rules in the default set to yes.  The idea was that you got paid faster though often times paid LESS because buyers refuse to participate in the "auto-pay" scenario.

You can supposedly get rid of this "test" to buyers by removing the setting that says you will provided combine shipping.  When this 7 day delay thing first came out, sellers were able to also use the "unpaid item cancellation" feature after 96 hours, and award the buyer a non-payment strike,  regardless of what eBay promised the buyer.

If you REALLY are serious about not providing combined shipping, you can also ditch the "auction" format and list everything at "BIN/fixed price" and select "Immediate payment required."

I don't  bid  on items  that have auto -pay  ,do  to   I use  pay  in  4 payments   with    PayPal .     eBay  has  a pay in 4  payments  company  in payment check out  ., Which  has made   the Auto- pay  system useless    for   send  offers   and   especially   for  the  big spender  buyers   that  are trying  to win  several  auctions .
