I'm working on a new selling account and testing out the automatic relist option for some auction listings. Is there a way to see how many times out of 8 that the listing has been relisted? I've been looking around but haven't found that info yet.
I know you can go into unsold listings and search for the item to see how many times it appears on the unsold page- but that doesn't work if you've been regularly deleting your unsold items. Oops.

If you look at an Active listing, the original start date appears at the top right under Listing Info.
If you look at an Unsold listing both the original start date is in the same place and the closed date appears on the Unsold List.
Since Good Til Cancelled listings renew every month, just count back on your fingers.

These are auction listings. You're talking about something different.

I'm in a similar situation. I closed all my book listings because I was having hardwood flooring put in under the bookshelves where I keep them.
I've been relisting as Sell Similar and just tested one as Relist as Fixed Price. You're right, on those the date is shown as the date manually relisted.
But my automatic relists - on sewing patterns which I did not close- show the original date, although they may have been relisted 10 or 15 times automatically.
These are Fixed Price/ Good Til Cancelled listings, since in my categories Auctions are a waste of time.
All my relists, whether manual or GTC have no further listing fees, beyond the monthly subscription. And since I list on both dotCOM and dotCA (Canada, my home site), I get twice as many "free" listings as my subscription covers.

Bumping this in case anybody currently online has additional info.
