Did you mean:

Automatic item specifics are wrong.

For awhile now, I've been noticing that eBay will automatically add item specifics to listings based on keywords in the listing title.  However, the specifics are wrong 99% of the time, and when you create a similar listing it will copy the inaccurate item specifics too.  I've been noticing this more and more across every category on eBay.

Just today, I did a search for GI Joe Snake Eyes and many of the results were not Snake Eyes related, but had item specific "Character: Snake Eyes"  like eBay is automatically adding it to every listing with GI Joe in the title.   The same thing happens for He-Man figures where non He-Man figures all have the item specific "Character: He-Man" because ebay automatically adds it to every listing with He-Man in the title.  When are they going to fix this?

Automatic item specifics are wrong.

I sent an e-mail to the eBay CEO Bill Cobb and got a response from his secretary saying that the problem only happens when using Sell Similar.  Her advice was to stop using the sell similar option, and instead only create new listings.

It happens with almost everything I list.  I just try to always check all those blasted specs for miscellaneous crazy.   I don't see it improving.

They won't fix it.  Examples I've experienced lol:

Selling something sealed?  Then your listing is now featuring the artist "Seal" lol

Selling something that comes with it's original Box?  Boxing related sports goods

Selling Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?  You guessed it featuring animal species Turtle lol

The item specifics have been a disaster for some time now.  I also buy on ebay and when I do a search for an item, I can't believe the stuff that pops up.  Many of us are wondering why our sales are dropping.

I often notice the "Sport: Boxing" and turtle ones too.

Selling vinyl records with any color in the bands name (White Stripes) will automatically add "Vinyl color: White"
