When I use the 200 per month free listings, unsold items after 90 days (buy it now) or 8 weeks (7 day auctions) get automatically relisted and I am charged an insertion fee. I do not want thjis automatic relisting. How do I turn it off. Customer service was no help.

All listings automatically relist (you cannot turn that off). The only thing you can do it to "end listing" before it renews.

Even AUCTIONS? Seems to me if that is the case, one must end them BEFORE they end to prevent the auto relist if that is the case. That will indeed not be a great buying experience for last minute bidders. They used to have an option "automatically relist" if the listing ends without a BID....

My workaround is to check my Seller Hub/Listings/Active/All Statuses/Ending Today. If I see anything that I don't want relisted, I end the listings. Hope this helps.

It's hard to believe that someone that has been on ebay since May of 1998 doesn't know that fixed price listings are now called Good Till Cancelled. GTC listings must be manually ended for them not to relist as others will attest. Unless you "force" end them they will relist forever as long as the earth spins.
Auction format listings will only relist if you choose for them to relist for something like 8 cycles. This option may have changed but as a rule auctions do not relist.
Having written that I think you have great consistent sales.

There are two variables to the Auto Relist 8 Times option and it depends on if you are using the Quick Listing Tool (Free to Relist 8-Times, does not count against free listings) or the Business Tool (Charged a Fee or a Free Listing)
It quit working correctly for me about mid 2020 when it started relisting two times and then ending. Then sometimes it would charge a Free Listing or Fee after the relist. After being billed for near 500 listings I quit using it on a large scale. I turned off eBay for nearly three months.
I do not trust it to work properly. Last time I used it a short time ago same thing, I received two auto relists and the auctions ended.

I have been a buyer since 1998. It is only recently that I started selling.

There is an exception, if you fail to maintain your eBay account and have orders that have not shipped then your account will be closed pretty quickly and this will end your listings.
If a lone account holder becomes sick or dies then things can get out of hand rapidly.
