It is not common in retail for the seller to turn away a customer. And a customer who may want to see what else might interest them before the seven days are up.
Unusual approach, for sure.

OK , but I am not a retailer.I don't make money on interest from credit cards either.Making a seller wait up to 10 days for payment is crazy.

It sounds like YOU have your buyer requirements set for buyers to provide a method of payment when bidding or making offers. Buyers can’t chose to use it, it’s a sellers choice.
If you don’t want to wait for buyers to pay list fixed price with immediate payment required.

It is a new feature that allows buyers who wish to purchase more than one of your auctions to extend the time of payment for up to 7 days to facilitate combined shipping/invoicing. Previously, the AUTO-PAY program dispensed with that, and likely many buyers just moved on to another seller when they figured out they would be billed separately at full shipping for each item.  If you don't wish to comply, when this first rolled out the seller could still use the unpaid item cancellation (and award the buyer a strike for non payment) after the usual 96 hours anyway.  That may still be in effect, and you could cancel without penalty or defect and begin on day 4 instead of waiting seven.  If you cancelled it after ONE day, what reason did you select?  Did you get a defect?

If it is not still working like that, then your best bet would be to remove the Buyer Rules and just file the Unpaid Item Cancellation after 96 hours as before.  At least your buyers can choose the payment option of their choice. But to avoid problems I would announce on your listing that you do not combine shipping and payment is due in 4 days, set it on automatic and go for it.

FWIW, I just did a test bid on your calendar with the Maxfield Parrish print.  It did NOT require me to put up a payment source in order to proceed to bid, so maybe this ID has been given a break from that requirement for a while.  If that is the case, I would not be auto-billed and would have 4 days to pay at auction end.

Buyers have the option to combine multiple auctions won over a 7 day period with the same seller if the seller offers combined shipping. These buyers can choose to have a payment method set up and turn on the option when they enter their auto payment information before they bid. This option is available if the seller has combined shipping set up. If they win the auto payment is set to 7 days, not the usual 1 hour, to allow the buyer to bid and win more from that seller.

All auctions won within the 7 day period will be auto charged at the day and time that was set when they won the first auction. Additional items won do not extend that payment so you will know when the items will be paid for and can plan your shipping help.

They only way you can avoid it is to not offer combined shipping. You would need to change your shipping policy to not allow combined shipping.

Here is the announcement about it.

Ok,here's the problem then.I don't offer combined shipping and they did it anyway. The buyer didn't understand why they did it either. That was the only item I had selling on that day.

If the buyer is not going to bid on any additional items they can pay for their item at any time, they do not have to wait for the auto-pay to do it.

I don't offer combined shipping and they did it anyway.  The buyer didn't understand why they did it either.

It is possible eBay has made some changes since the option began testing. When testing a new feature there are always changes as they receive feedback on it. Since buyers do have to opt in it is possible the buyer did turn it on without noticing.

That was the only item I had selling on that day.

The items do not have to be ending all in the same day for this to work, it combines all items won before the 7 day payment time.

This "convenience" is for the buyer to go shop around for a 7 days to see if someone else lists the same item for less and they can cancel your transaction.

BTW...My first buyer who chose this NEVER added any other items in the past 7 days and the auto pay is due in a couple of hours.
