Hi,
I sold some Hoka running shoes on ebay this week and they got rejected as not authentic. This is ridiculous, I bought them brand new. I explained in the description that they were used and provided lots of photographs. It's obvious they are genuine Hoka's, how can I speak to someone at ebay about this? Whoever is inspecting things like this should surely be able to tell whether something is genuine, otherwise what is the point in doing the job.

Well I don't have any help for you, but I do want to point out that you could have bought them new in a brick and mortar store (or online) and been given fake ones. We had a local guy arrested a while back for importing counterfeit furniture of all things, had been doing it for years.

Are you certain they were rejected as inauthentic? I've seen many items rejected for condition not matching description. Which is arbitrary IMO.

I've just got off the phone to an ebay agent. They were not rejected due to condition, it was that they could not prove they were authentic. I appreciate what you are saying about I could have been sold fake shoes, but I wasn't. They came from Sportshoes, I would know if they were fake and I would no way try to sell them on ebay as I would not want to be sold fake shoes myself and I have been buying and selling the odd thing or two for over 20 years on ebay and have a feedback of over 700 and 100%. I wouldn't want to spoil that.
I guess it's just a case that they made a mistake and I need to try and sell them elsewhere or more likely, give them to charity.

SIGH I've seen it happen with other things too. Handbags, Trading Cards etc...
No way to know the actual expertise of their "authenticators" and YES mistakes do happen,
Sorry..
