Authentication on Redemption Cards

Why won’t eBay authenticate redemption cards $250+ anymore like other cards.

This is critically important to sellers! It’s too easy for a buyer to get a card, scratch off the code, and return the card with ZERO recourse for sellers.

The authentication would prevent this.

Cmon now eBay!!!

Authentication on Redemption Cards

eBay doesn't usually tell us "why" on stuff like this. All we have to go on are the FAQ which say:

https://www.ebay.com/authenticity-guarantee/tradingcards

Sets, lots, kits, decks, boxes, packs, art cards, and raw redemption cards do not qualify for Authenticity Guarantee at this time.

Maybe you should redeem the codes yourself then sell the card received from the mfr.

Probably for the same reason they do not authenticate the vast majority of other items. I expect it is expensive and time consuming.

It is only critically important to sellers who are listing redemption cards over $250.

If that is happening, then it sounds to me like redemption cards are a poor choice for selling on the eBay venue.
