Authentication issues?

Anyone else having trouble with the authentication process sending your item back saying it's counterfeit? I have a LV bumbag bought from a Louis Vuitton store in Dallas, Texas with the receipt showing where it was purchased for over 1600.

You are not a unique situation.  Many sellers have authentic items makred as counterfeit by whoever ebay hires to verify them.

Authentication issues?

@cnf*mbh

I've seen errors that have been made by the authenticators. But I've also seen posts in which sellers claim their items were "1000% authentic" and that was not the case.

I have a couple of requests.

1. Please post the message you received when they denied the sale. Redact any personal information.

Sometimes items fail because they find that the condition of the item wasn't accurately depicted. And if that's the case, the item didn't fail because of authenticity.

2. Please post pictures of the bag showing the bag itself, hardware, markings, date code, heat stamp/made in stamp.

If further pictures are needed, they'll be requested.

Authentication issues?

Authentication is not a science, it is subjective. Authenticators make errors, usually when they are dealing with items which they have never seen before.

The situation you are in is not unique, is unlikely to be resolved relative to this transaction for this item, and needs to be dealt with by selling the item in some other venue.

You do not want a history of selling inauthentic items on Ebay. If you relist here, you run the risk of hitting the same human being again.

I have had trading cards sent to PSA. They were authentic and rare. So rare that few authenticators every see them in a lifetime.  They were returned as "unable to authenticate". I brought them with me to a show, where dealers as old as I am were present. 100% of us old codgers agreed they were authentic, and several made me significant offers for the cards.

All too many buyers have no clue what they are buying, and they and Ebay rely on authentication to reduce the buyer risk. As a seller, it took me years to realize that on the whole, I benefited from authentication, even of the occasional injustice occured.
