Auctions on Labor Day

So I set up some 10-day auctions last week and had them end on Monday -- never realizing that Monday was Labor Day.  Now I am left thinking I made a really bad boo boo and I will be getting no bids/sales.

What do you think of auctions ending on a Holiday?  A big mistake?

Happy 2018! May this upcoming year be a prosperous one!

Auctions on Labor Day

You never know.............

Years ago there used to be a poster on old Stores Board who would run auctions, but cancel them if she didn't get a bid in the first 3-4 days.......  because she was embarrassed that they didn't get a bid.  She was an old time ebayer and never could understand that buyers got smarter and waited til the last minute to bid OR not as many people wanted to fool with auctions anymore.  Sad.......

Normally i avoid 10 day auctions as being too long, unless it's a really hot item. But on the Pro side of the coin, you covered two weekends in the 10 days (getting more eyes on your listing) and more people are free to "surf" on a holiday, altho you may lose others that are away from their devices since they're not at work. (However, now with a smart phone, people are free to bid from literally anywhere, anytime.)

Wow.  Can't imagine cancelling my listing because they didn't get an immediate bid:  That's like cutting off my nose despite my face!  I hope some people aren't all at BBQ's and such and some of these auctions come to fruition with a bid/sale.

Does this old time seller still sell on eBay?  I wonder if she/he is still cancelling listing if they don't get a bid in the first 3-4 days or has finally caught on.

Not that I know of.......have looked a couple of times for her...... she said she quit.   She was a really knowledgeable postcard seller and had 1000's.....a retiree that could have used the $$ from what I gathered......but just had that blind spot and no one could talk her out of it......

It depends.

While many may have events planned, they may also schedule a little down time to browse online and SHOP!!

Good sales to you!!!!!
