Auction time extended on bid

New to auction bidding on ebay.  I put a bid on an auction item, closing on Sunday at 08:38 PM.  For several hours I was the only bidder.  When I checked on my bid, I was still the only bidder, but now there were 4 watchers.  When I checked my bid again at 2:30PM CST, I was still the only bidder, there were still 4 watchers but the auction closing time had been extended to Sunday, February 5 at 1838 PM PST.  Can the seller do that?

With the exception of a seller ending the listing early or eBay taking down the listing for a violation, it is systematically impossible for anybody to change the auction end time. It cannot be extended.

8:38 PM vs 18:38 PM - most likely you mis-read it the first time around.

Also, that does not appear to be an extension because 18:38 is equivalent to 6:38 which is 2 hours earlier than you expected. But like I said, the seller cannot change it once the auction is live - all they can do is end it early which means the listing ends immediately when seller chooses to end it - it does not mean the time displayed will change.

In which time zone are you located? Does 8:38 PM your time match up with 6:38 PM Pacific time?

Re: Auction time extended on bid

Auction times and durations cannot be changed when there is a bid. The only way to change the duration is to cancel any bids end the listing and relist.
Today is Sunday February 5th all auctions start and end PST eBay time. CST is 2 hours ahead of PST. So the auction will end when it is supposed to.
1838 is military time for 6:38 Pm PST

Sunday is the 5th and 1838 PST is the same as 8:38pm CST.

eBay does not extend Auctions and sellers cannot change the start/finish time.

Re: Auction time extended on bid

eBay is very glitchy in how they show time. Sometimes it shows your local time zone. Sometimes it defaults to PST even if that is not your time zone.

This can cause the times to look like they changed.
