Auction is auto-relisting despite no automation rules, how to turn off?

I have a 7 day auction that just ended and eBay relisted the item automatically even though when I go to https://www.ebay.com/sh/lst/active I can clearly see that there is NO automation rule applied to this auction.  What is going on?  Is this a bug?  I want to put single items up for auction, and if they don't sell, put them into a lot in a separate auction.  I do NOT want my auctions to auto relist.  I'm worried eBay will do this for all my auctions and cause a headache as I have to pull auctions down manually.  Is anyone else wrestling with this?  This seems like a basic feature that should work out of the box.

Thanks!

Hi,

When you wrote the listing, did you click the little box?  (It's changed to something else now, however it does the same thing.)  If it was checked or clicked on. Your listing will be relisted eight times.

If you did not, then I have no clue...

My two cents.

This is what I think is going on.

To check this out, go to one of those auction listings and click on "sell similar," a draft will be started. Scroll down to the "pricing" section and see if "auto relist" is on.

If it shows as "on," that's what is happening. You can then delete the draft. I think you can edit and end the auto relist if you go in to revise the listing.

I'm confused.  I don't have that option.  My interface is quite different.  When I click on "sell similar" and scroll down to pricing, I see the following:

Am I missing something obvious?  Why are the interfaces so different?

Similarly, if I go to "Manage Active Listings" and try to set an automation rule, it is simply ignored.  I tried setting an auction to relist after an hour.  The rule was ignored, the auction was immediately relisted, and the rule is no longer showing under the auction.

I also spent a half hour with someone in the eBay customer service online chat, but they were not able to help.  They simply gave me a response of "We will raise it over to our development team" which I assume is a code for "we will keep billing you, but not fix this bug."

Very disappointed that eBay can't get a simple feature like this to work.

Re: Auction is auto-relisting despite no automation rules, how to turn off?

Here's what I pieced together for anyone trying to sort through this (especially if you're new to selling like me).  eBay offers two tools to start an auction.

The Quick Listing Tool:
http://www.ebay.com/sl/sell?sr=wnstart

The Business Tool:
https://bulksell.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SingleList&sellingMode=AddItem

When using the Quick Listing tool, you will NOT have the option to turn auto relisting on or off.  By default it will be ON and your auction will relist 8 times.  Trying to change the relisting settings by editing the automation rules under "Manage active listings" (https://www.ebay.com/sh/lst/active) will NOT work (whether intentional or not, this is a bug. The UI should be disabled if it is not functional per standard software development practices).  Adding, changing, removing an automation rule will apparently have no affect (this is what happens under my account).  So if you use the Quick Listing tool and your item does not sell, it will immediately relist and you cannot change this behavior.  Beware!

When using the Business tool, you can turn the auto relist option on or off under pricing (see the pic above provided by albertabrightalberta).  Now I have not tested it, but I'm assuming this actually works and turning off auto relist actually works when using the Business tool.  I'm also assuming this will allow the automation rules under "Manage active listings" to function properly, but I have NOT yet tested this feature to verify this.

Hope this helps someone out there who is as confused by this as I am 🙂
