Auction and prohibited symbols

Hello.

I have a question for the community and eBay.
Why is it allowed to sell coins, postage stamps and photos on the Auctions with the symbols of the Third Reich banned by the service.

Thank you for your answer

Auction and prohibited symbols

If I sell a German medal with a forbidden symbol, it violates the rules and the auction is removed, and if I sell a coin with the same forbidden symbol, the auction continues and everything is ok.

Why the law of restriction does not work equally for all subjects.

In my opinion, a forbidden symbol, e.g. a swastika on coins, promotes hatred as much as a symbol e.g. on a medal

I think your issues with your Nazi memorabilia have all been addressed in other threads. No need to go over it again and again.

I have not received an answer to my question, so the topic is still valid and I am very interested in what other users of the site have to say about it

Offensive materials policy | eBay

Read it very carefully.

It doesn't matter what other users of the site have to say about it. eBay makes and enforces these rules, not users.

Follow their policy or your listings will be removed. Period. End of.

Complies with the law and ebay policy.

The Restriction Policy doesn't explain my question and I have the right to ask it in a public forum

     You didn't provide a specific example(s) of the listed items so other than simply referencing the policy it's hard to say. The bot's do a fair job of scanning items for policy violations but they are not going to catch them all. If you feel items are in violation of the policy you can always report them to eBay.

     I sell a lot of WW II items some of which are German but I use other sites to do so since the policy is a bit vague in spots and I simply don't want to take the risk of having items removed from eBay.

I sell stamps, postcards and covers, and I've had items taken down by Ebay as well.  I also get chastised from time to time by Ebay SJW's.  I simply refer to Ebay policy.  If it's not allowed, I won't list it.

In regards to stamps, coins, paper currency, postmarks and covers (letters): I think the reasoning is that these items were a part of the German economy of the time period; whereas certain statues, postcards, posters, etc., were strictly Nazi propaganda material.

@pburn
Thanks for the link. It answered the questions I had.

@flea_market_us

The following items may be listed:

  • Currency issued by the Nazi Germany government, including military scripts
  • Historical and religious items that bear a swastika if they are made before 1933 and are not related to Nazism

There are some people in this world who are offended by everything.

There are others who have adopted Thomas Jefferson's credo:

If it costs me no money and does me no harm it us none of my business.

And as such are offended by nothing.

Other than the (Nazi era tank battalion) Panzer hat you have listed which has not been removed how exactly are you affected? Which further raises the question who appointed you the thought police?

collections_and_art,

I have two suggestions for you: Remove the word FAIR from your business vocabulary and, from an e-Bay perspective, realize that WHY is irrelevant.

This is Ebays playground.  If they say it can't be sold, don't sell it and jeopardize your account.  Didn't you ask about this yesterday concerning a statue of an Eagle that was removed from your site because of the name?  Maybe it was someone else?...

Have a great weekend.

Here is the answer:  That is the decision eBay made.  No one here made the decision, or can explain the decision, or has any influence over that, or any other, corporate eBay decision.

You have something that eBay will not let you sell.  Get over it.

People who collect police badges and patches, and people who collect old celluloid when it was called Ivoroid, and people who collect Black Americana, and people who collect weapons -- and that is to name but a few collectors -- run into eBay restrictions they believe are nonsense, too, when they try to sell or buy here.

All the time you spent demanding answers from people who cannot provide them could have been spent finding another venue on which to sell whatever it is that you want to sell.
