Some states, like my current home state, have some very stringent requirements for anyone selling things in auction-style environment, including online. Does e-bay hold any auctioneer or auction licenses? I have attempted speaking to three or four different customer support agents and no one can seem to find any documentation regarding this inquiry. I have been directed by support to post my inquiry here so that she can raise it to management. By the avoidance of the question, I presume the answer is that e-bay does not hold such a license.

eBay is a California corporation, California does not require Auctioneer licenses so I don't see why eBay would need one.

Just wondering, though. If ebay is now the merchant of record, what with Managed Payments and all, what about items being sold from other states, including those that have different laws?

California doesn't issue a separate Auctioneers License but they do have
laws that must be followed in order to conduct an Auction.
