Are sellers still protected for unauthorized payment with MP?

Being on ebay for decades, sellers were always protected for unauthorized payments (chargebacks) with paypal before. Now that it's Managed Payment, I just assumed the same protection applies. But I do want to get some confirmation?

Are sellers still protected for unauthorized payment with MP?

@cookiedough143

Many posts have been made about charge backs under MP with varying results.

I was protected on the one that I had.

The charge back was "did not recognize purchase".

Tracking was provided showing delivery to the address provided at checkout. CCC found in favor of the buyer.

Many posts on the boards about charge backs under MP  that have gone the other way. With  INR's sellers seem to fare well. The INAD's seem to be the "tough on the seller" ones.

If you have shipping confirmation to the shipping address then you will be protected for a 'does not recognize' chargeback.  That's what ebay appears to call unauthorized use chargebacks.  There is more information on the following page.

I do understand it's a fight for INAD, it has already been.... But in the past INR or did not recognize purchase was always protected for sellers. Just wanted to make sure that didn't change.

Unauthorized payment one’s have to show that the item was sent to the recipients correct address on the ebay account and their charge card. If that shows correct, then technically these should be won. However, you have to take into account the people who let their 17 years old kid steal their card and start charging up a lot of fun. As, far as Ebay is concerned I believe that is the address matches up THEY should protect you with seller protection regardless of what the CC company decides which is usually always against the merchant.

Yes, we only ship to the address ebay provides to us. But whether if it was a fraud use or not, we really have very little control over it. We just assume when ebay tells us to ship there, it means it's a safe (not stolen card or account) transaction.

When people wait months and months to do a chargeback for INR, the tracking for the transaction is no longer available to some sellers. That has created some problems for sellers that I've seen posted here. I don't know if anything can ever be done with the banks and credit card companies that are basically complicit in many of these chargeback scams. Or with companies like YouTube that allow people to post videos of how to scam sellers on eBay out of their money and steal their items.
