Anyone use a fixed scanner for help with research/listings?

I am a seller that deals with items that mainly have barcodes. I use the barcode info to help set pricing, and when I am listing.

I use a laptop for my listings, and am wondering if there is a fixed barcode scanner that I could attach to the lap top that will drop the UPC # wherever I may have the cursor. Be it in the search bar, or UPC section of a listing.

Is there one type better than another, pitfalls of using etc?

Thanks in advance for the recommendations!

I found a fixed scanner made by Honeywell. Was about $120. Has a usb connection, and works like a charm. Has saved me a ton of time.

I use a WASP barcode scanner with my laptop. Many around $25 or so.

We have a couple symbol scanners, you can get them for $30 or so.

We put labels on all our items with the ebay item number barcoded, Description and the storage location of the item.

Then we have a laptop with a wireless scanner and  a specially set up spreadsheet so we can scan every item on a shelf or tote and quickly find a item that is missing or a item that is not still listed for sale.

Started this whole deal after we lost TRS for a few months because of items that could not be found after they sold.
