Can't be 100% sure it wasn't my goof-up but I just had to cancel a sale where the 3 items the buyer ordered from a single multi-item listing (showing related but varied parts, each listed separately in a pull-down menu) actually sold a month or more ago. The items sold out to two previous buyers, and it appears the entire purchase of the last buyer was not properly reflected in an update of the remaining quantities.

Yes, I had the same thing happen. The day before I was to go on vacation, a Buyer was interested in several items from a multi-item listing. I realized that many of the items had already sold a month ago and the listing still had them available. I didn't think to check other listings for the same problem. Then tonight I had a Buyer purchase an item from a multi-item listing and it also has previously sold. If anyone knows what is causing this, please advise. It there an automatic update button that we need to select??? Thank you for any help!!

I have too many to know if the inventory inaccuracy was caused by eBay or human error. My staff can make mistakes especially if the volumes are high. Usually if it’s off, it’ll be off by only 2-3 units out of like a quantity of a few hundred. And it’s impossible to be 100% correct all the time.
That’s why I schedule periodic inventory audits every quarter or so. It just continuously rotates items to audit as the year passes.

Oh. Then yea. I totally remember this being a huge issue back then. It would get all wonky if you tried to revise the listing or quantities. So because of that, I just chose to not revise many quantities during that glitch. Which meant I didn’t really restock. Glad it’s over.
