Hello. I am a long term seller. I love eBay. I enjoy the platform and I've never really had a problem, and I feel I've been treated fairly most of the time. Last night I got the email about suddenly needing to verify my account phone number, email, and send them a copy of my driver's license. It really had no explanation and I was kind of freaked out. Then I Google this and check the community message boards, and I see that this has been an ongoing thing that many members have gone through in the past couple years. I assume my turn just came up. I've read so many horrible things about it taking days, weeks, sometimes months for them to take the hold off of your payouts. I can still sell and I am just going about my normal business, but with no guarantee of when my funds will be paid to me. Customer service tells me it takes 24 to 48 hours to verify. I'm only at about 24 hours right now. I'm just wondering if there's anyone out there that this was quick and easy for. It's causing me stress and we're going into the Christmas season. It has made me feel really bad today like I broke some rule, when it appears it's happening to everybody at some point.

Are they really holding your payouts at this point? Looks like you have been doing a lot of steady business. One would think it is just a formality for your account.
I never missed a beat on my verification. They never held payments. EBay never came back and said anything or blessed my account, nothing.

You didn't break any rule, they have been doing it for Managed Payments, Know Your Customer laws & upcoming INFORM laws. THey're going to everyone.
Just do what they ask & you'll be fine.

Yes, lots of other people have said they got the same message. It starts out like 'Let's get back on track. You need to verify your account..." something to that effect. I was shocked because my performance is stellar, and to my knowledge, I have never been 'OFF TRACK' lol. 😞

Correct. It's poorly worded!

Thank you, that makes me feel better. So weird because some people say they were verified 'in a few hours' and others talk about some horrid nightmare with verification they get into. I pray I am one of the easy ones. I read the seller updates and try to stay informed. Maybe I missed a bulletin about this or something.

I just got asked to confirm my phone & email, the other day. Never mind that I had to do it for MP 2 years ago, last year for KYC & also that I get sometimes 100 emails a day from them & also, that info hasn't changed in over 20 years for me.
When you get the red bar on your account is when you may be in danger of payouts stopping. Though I once had that for close to a year before they actually stopped my payments. No one could tell me the problem despite MULTIPLE phone calls. It was my EIN, even though it was correct, for some reason it had to be my SSN, which REALLY annoyed me, since eBay was the only reason I got an EIN to begin with.

Mine stopped immediately upon the emailed request to update my account. No warning, no prior request, no talk of a deadline. I have had managed payments since it started, same email, phone, address, bank account, name, everything for all these years. I have sold 27,000 items on this account since 2011. Just blows my mind that they would hold my payouts. They keep acruing, but it says 'no scheduled payouts' with a little exclaimation mark. Everything else as far as listing, sending offers, printing labels, etc is working just fine. I have no red bar.

IDK, that is kind of odd. But maybe it's new policy. If you've sent the info, I would just give it a few days.

Thanks for trying to help. I am new to the message boards. I spend so much time listing and sourcing goods, that I seldom explore the site. I will do more of it! Provided they get me verified. 😂

Oh this is hilarious! This thread reminded me that I just got that email to verify my em & phone. So, I find the email, go to do it & all it does is have me enter my PW & then thanks me for verifying the info. Except I DID NOT verify the info. It never did anything but take my PW & then thank me LMAO. This is such a mess.

That is so crazy. Well, count your blessings. Must be the ID requirement that locks up your money. I wouldn't even care if it took a week, but I literally had to call customer service to inquire about the process / time to wait because the confirmation screen you get upon uploading the pictures of your ID basically just says 'thanks'. Your payouts will resume when the process is finished. Uhhhh okay. Crazy. Whoever penned the correspondance for info request and confirmation is risking making a lot of sellers upset, and most definitely confused. I have been full steam ahead to get ready for the holidays, and now I am like what the heck is this conundrum of a process!?

Just wanted to add that I am in the same (or similar) boat as the OP. They wanted an ID (which I had already provided to Managed Payments after the switch from Paypal), I uploaded my driver's license, which they verified quickly. They said I would start receiving funds again provided there are no other issues that need addressing (none that I know of.) My funds were held immediately and as of now have not been be released ( I have 'no scheduled payments' with a red explamation point). Customer service told me to wait 1-5 business days for Managed Payments to enter the information.

Wow, and look and your feedback! I can't believe this is happening right before the biggest selling time of the year. I will come back to my post and update what happens with mine. Please let me know what happens with yours, also. I am curious to know how that plays out. I honestly cannot remember if I had to give a copy of my ID when I switched to managed payments. I remember all of the emails telling me I had to do it by a certain time, blah, blah, blah. I dreaded it because I liked Paypal. Well, once I switched to MP, I loved it! But I just don't remember what all I had to do initially when I switched over. Maybe they truly didn't have a copy of my ID until now. I can't say. What I can say is that this process is TERRIBLE. Good luck to you. 🙂

I'll post to update. I'm hoping (really, really hoping) that the information the customer service representative gave was accurate, and that all will be well in a few days. Good luck to you too- I hope this works out 🙂
