Ebay CSV Upload specifications allow both Ebay Item Number as well as your own SKU number to be used as to update your listings via CSV.
This is specified on a few locations in the manual.
However, the SKU upload was broken was years. I haven't got any answer from Ebay on how to do that. No email response since their turbodata support email address is dead and forget contacting them via the regular channels. I may try the new developer support since that is now included at no charge, so I hope there will be some human beings responding.
However, just wanted to check, if anybody is actually able to do that?
If I include my SKU number in the CSV (but not the Item Number), the CSV gets rejected for the following reason:
Failure ..... Error - There is no active item matching the specified SKU|
In my CSV I have following fields:
I put there on purpose a few variations of the SKU field name because Ebay is inconsistent with their field naming. Having different variations of the field name is not an issue because I use the same format also to upload NEW listings and ebay happily accepts to have all 3 columns in the CSV for the SKU number 0000111.
So uploading this results in the error.
However, if I add the Item Number column at to this CSV, the upload works fine.
My goals has always been to make price updates via CSV using my own SKU number and not the EBay Item Number because I don't have that Item Number, I have to manually download the item number after the listing was created and populate my items with the EBay Item Number. That's tedious.
If Ebay has in documentation I should be able to upload by SKU number, then it should work.
But it was never the case and I had no response from Ebay on what is the issue.
Anybody managed to do the updates via your SKU number?
