Antique - decorative arts category deleted for WHAT reason?

Why was this category removed like 2 hours ago? Where are antique sellers supposed to sell 18th century porcelain? In decorative department next to chinese spit dish?

Re: Antique - decorative arts category deleted for WHAT reason?

I've always felt categories were useless. I doubt buyers search for an item by searching a category. Instead, buyers search by item description.

I list a wide variety of items using maybe 3 different categories. It doesn't seem to  affect sales.

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

Yeah key search words are the go, I never search by categories.

Re: Antique - decorative arts category deleted for WHAT reason?

All of my saved searches were changed to "decorative collectibles". The results are dismal. I looked in the "pottery and glass" category, but items I had watched are not in the search results. They are in my 'watched list' but I will never be able to find like items in this current system. Attempted to search "antiques" but way too much garbage is returned in the search results. Whoever made this decision and changed users saved searches should be fired without and severance of benefits.

Decorative arts eliminated tons of garbage from my searches.  Example of patent searches, the more categories the better - same in antiques...

Thank you for reaching out to us about the recent changes in the Decorative Collectibles categories. We're sorry to hear that you’ve had a frustrating experience as a result of the category changes. We understand that the changes may affect the way you are used to listing and searching for example for Longaberger basket items. eBay is moving to a product-based category structure which will enable a more flexible browsing experience and in many cases, replacing categories with left-hand navigation filters.

You’ll be pleased to know that you can now search for Decorative Collectibles in product-based categories in the same area, then use the item specifics to narrow down even further. For example, by Brand = Longaberger and Time Period Manufactured = 1980-1989 or Era = 21st Century (2000-Now). As the category changes roll out, there will be some fluctuation in the item specifics and left-hand navigation filters. This should settle down in the days. We apologize for the inconvenience in the meantime. Meanwhile, we will continue to look into improving the search experience further. I do hope this helps to resolve your concern.

Thank you again for taking the time to share this valuable feedback, and for choosing eBay!

Kind regards,

Arthur

Re: Antique - decorative arts category deleted for WHAT reason?

Why did you decide to eliminate the art Glass category.  Since my expensive Steuben glass items were revised by you into glass bowls I have seen a 75 percent reduction in page views.  Nice that this is coming right before Xmas.  So very thoughtful.  I guess you must have decided to imitate Amazon or some other site.  Every eBay change I have lived through has managed to damage my business.  Now instead of my items competing with other Steuben items they will be folded into every other glassware category on earth.  Thanks again.  Ps when I lose money you do too.

Re: Antique - decorative arts category deleted for WHAT reason?

Art Glass, cut glass, eapg glass categories are GONE. Now we get to lump all glass together. I get to have my expensive cut glass item thrown into the Decorative Glass/bowls category? Give us a break, eBay. I've been a seller for over 20 years on here & this change is the worst one yet. We glass sellers know that eBay doesn't want us anymore, they eliminated all our categories! Well, I guess we'll just have to find another site to sell on. Ba-bye, eBay. Maybe change your name to AmazonBay.
