Another "new listing format is terrible" post.

No reason that we all shouldn't speak up about it.  It's garbage.  It looks like a cartoon.  It wants me to click a ton of extra crap and try to hold my hand and walk me through all of the options.  I already know what I'm doing.  This is just slowing me down.  Has eBay ever made any big changes that were actually positive?

You have already spoken up on an existing thread, why start another one on the exact topic and flood the boards?

Gosh.  A listing form complaint thread.

Sigh...

Get used to it.  They did the same thing with the all selling PAGE a few years back and you should have seen the flurry of angry posts regarding that and GUESS WHAT...???  eBay didn't care.  Everyone either had to live with it or quit.

Many of us hated (and still hate) the all selling PAGE but we either had to live with it, go to the hub or quit.

When it comes to reformatting things around here, eBay does not listen to the sellers...and I will truly be amazed if I see the day that they do.

Adapt & Good luck.

Yes it sucks for many sellers, unfortunately we should not have to "get used to it.

Ok this new format may be great for people selling simple items like house hold or clothing items...

But for people who are selling more complex items such as parts IT IS A HUGE MISTAKE.
Parts and such have multiple part numbers associated with the part as well as dozens of fitment options etc.

It took me an hour for one posting - I am sure I will get faster, but I see me spending 20-30 minutes for a single posting even if I get faster.  i have hundreds of items to post.  I can not afford to spend the better part of a full day posting a few items.

SO I agree - it sucks for many, many ebay sellers.  I surefire way to shoot many sellers and ebay itself in the foot.

eBay should have both formats available for listing so that sellers can use the one most efficient for their posting style and needs.

So lone agreement to the "get used to it" comment.  I may have to reactivate my Amazon account.

I was on a Zoom with eBay this AM & asked a member of the new listing tool team if they were toying with the idea of letting people use the old listing tool & the answer is no. They told me the old tool is on an old technology platform, so they must be moving away from it. They did however say that they are aware of the postings on here & are constantly improving it.

Your best bet is to post specifics about what you don't like & to use the feeback link to give SPECIFIC info on what is causing you problems. Those links DO work, I have been contacted numerous times by eBay in regards to things I submitted via the links.

It is. It's old spaghetti code that doesn't meet modern web design standards, which makes it much harder to update and maintain. It's honestly no wonder they ditched it for something more up-to-date.

I hope that "are aware of" means some of the new listing tool team are actually reading the posts on these threads--all the threads and all the posts.

I would have liked to use the Feedback link at the bottom of the page when I went to post my one listing yesterday, but I was afraid to.  The Preview link in the same list resulted in a no-return dead end.  I had to re-enter my entire listing.  I feared that the Feedback link would be the same, and I didn't want to enter all my listing for the third time.

I am starting to think there must be something wrong with me, as I find the new listing format easier, faster and more enjoyable!

Maybe because I am a very visual person, the visual aids in the new format really help me with scanning for errors in my listings before I finalize them.  In the old system, it was just a wall of text scattered all over the page.

Amazon is so super easy to list stuff on.  If I have 100 UPC's I can list them in about 15 to 20 minutes.  It's got it's drawbacks too, but e-bay can never compete with that.

I list stuff on desktop computer, and I just hate it.  I guess it's great if you're a new seller, and only trying to list a couple of items.  Trying to list around 20+ every day?  Sucks.  Everything is super large when I don't need it to be, it starts with the photos, so the title comes 2nd, and the title is SO STINKING SMALL!!!!!  I don't need my  photos to appear large, I freaking know what files I just moved over.

If I'm listing something different from my usual, and I've started with my title, it's like its started with a search but morphs it to the title.  It doesn't do well to get the right category.    Select your item from a list!!!!  yeah, no, it's not one of those.  Sorry!  So I start off with a generic title, it doesn't find what a category, and it just puts it somewhere?  They have "helpful" other people sell this item in 7x4x4 boxes and 1 lb, when the category I'm listing in has a generic usual size of 12" x 9".  I don't know where they get their "other sellers info" from, don't really care if someone else can smash it into a smaller sized box or manages to ship for 1 lb less weight.

Like the old listing, the standard "I'd LOVE to use e-bay international program!" is ALWAYS defaulted.  When I sell similar, when I relist, when I do whatever.  ALWAYS DEFAULTED.

Yeah, I'll get used to it, but it's not an improvement

@earthdreamer  That actually came up today in my meeting, that esp for those who don't like a lot of data entry, they actually prefer it & that a lot of people really like it.  So you're not alone.  Though you may be alone on here 😉  There was actually another user today who liked it for the same reason as you.

@tealt  I did get the impression they were reading here.   I can't speak directly to the 'tell us what you think' link, as I haven't used it (I use Sixbit), but I've never had one not work & I use them quite a bit.  I just don't use the new listing format, so no need to.  I happen to prefer text to pictures or clicking, so I would probably have the same frustration as most here, if I had to use it.

Oh, and I "love" getting numerous e-mails.  You've listed your item!  Yeah, duh.  I just hit the button to say "list it", and it then appeared on my active list.  I don't need another spam e-mail from e-bay to go with the "you've submitted a counter offer", or your item has sold, when I literally just clicked the "accept offer" button.  Yeah, I know it sold.  Oh hey, if I bought a label, can you send me an e-mail for each and every one?  I'm only buying 10 today, so keep those useless e-mails coming right on in.

@simply-the-best-for-you Thank you so much for sharing this. I was starting to doubt myself.

I guess if you like the new listing, it stands to reason that you wouldn't come to the community forum to whine about it.
