Another pathetic weekend

Second straight weekend without a sale on this increasingly pathetic site!   Why do I keep adding listings??  Should just work on other ways to sell instead of trying to make any decent income here.   Beyond disappointed with this "household name" website.  The WORST summer I've seen on here!   I'm not here just to complain for myself.  I know tons of other sellers are fed up, too and, need to vent.   Good luck to all us!     🙂

I personally have never witnessed the arrogance and open hostility perpetrated upon the sellers on Ebay by Ebay executives and policies.  We are in a rural area and Ebay was a godsend in the days before the egregious treatment by Ebay and the shippers.  We are selling our remaining inventory and getting off this losing merry go round.  I wish the very best to Ebay sellers.  You work too hard to be abused in this manner.

Over a month ago we marked everything down many items below cost with free shipping

We have done comparisons we are the lowest price on the internet

I want to add more listings but why ?

The other site has issues too we closed that store too many returns

The clothing place has a few sales no returns

How can we go from several thousand per month to 493.00 in 60 days

EVERYONE HAS BECOME A SELLER.   Facebook Porch Pickup with multiple sites tailored to everyone in everyone city.   Listing is free.  Pickup is free.   I do fine here as I have for 20 years but I keep very few listings active and most of my time is spent on Ebay SOLD search then off to the swap meet on Sundays.  I try to target Men Not On A Budget!!!

I see the OP is in Canada so in his case the higher shipping cost to get it to the States may be a factor.

My sales have tanked for some time. I added a clothing line as the vintage/antiques were not moving. That line was profitable for awhile. but now that category is so saturated not worth my effort.

I now use eBay as a venue to try and sell items I do not want to *yard sale* or donate to the Salvation Army.

I have lost interest in pursuing eBay any further nor trying a new product line.

My house has emptied some, but I need more to go.

I'm really curious where all that promised Google traffic from GTC is.

For whatever it is worth, quite a few of my listings have 1st page google placement. I am selling mainly parts, with part numbers that buyers use to search with.

Item specifics are helpful in google search.

Sales have been slow over the last month but not nonexistent.

Best of luck to all.

I'm certain, if I was wealthy & didn't NEED the sales, the GREAT items I post would sell immediately.  However, since I'm living day-to-day with the unreliability of eBay, I'm stuck waiting & waiting for decent sales.  Someone can sell a sports card for $4500. Getting someone to spend $45 on mine is like pulling teeth!  lol   Everyone have a good night.

To have something for sale at $12 OBO, with 140 views within 3 weeks and, not even get an offer, is ridiculous.  How much interest does this EXPENSIVE item need before generating a sale?  LOL   😛

On this account May was horrendous - picked up in June - but all down hill in July and August.  Will soon lose my final top rated seller status.

When 80% of your sales for the past decade occur on the weekend, and 50% of your weekends have yielded no sales since April - something has changed.   And I don't think it is what I am selling as much as what potential buyers are seeing.   I sell very few items that are new,  but unless buyers search by lowest price - the new multiple quantity items will appear first, and with all the sponsored listings, used items may not appear at all.

My other accounts are less weekend dependent for sales, but haven't been doing any better since March 2019 compared to prior years.

The $4,500 card may actually be worth $10,000 and is very limited so it's a great deal.  Your $45 card may be a common one that is one of 50 like cards being sold here and many for less than what you are asking.

Just a heads up for sellers. I had a higher priced item listed on eBay and I was getting very few views for the general popularity of the category. So, I went looking for it to see where it was listed thinking maybe I had a keyword or something that was throwing it into a rabbit hole somewhere. I couldn't find it anywhere! I searched several times. I double checked the listing and category I put it in and it was right where it needed to be with several items of the same nature listed by others. I was totally **bleep** at this point and went to help and contact to find out what was going on. All of a sudden, my listing appeared magically and now has quadrupled the amount of views in a quarter of the time it had previously been listed.  I would normally think this is an anomaly but an item I am watching is not being showing up in the category IT IS LISTED IN!  I was going to give the buyer a heads up because his views and watchers were abysmal for  that particular item but when I checked his category listing, it was right where it needed to be. No keywords that should keep it from being listed are in his title. It still doesn't appear in his listed category (6 days) and he's going to get screwed on the low bids because he's not getting any viewers (and I'm going to pounce on it). So eBay is essentially screwing sellers over if they're not vigilant. If you're getting low views, double check your category listing, then search for your item to make sure it appears.  I also had a poor summer through July and I do think shipping is a lot of it but now I think eBay has a glitch or they are intentionally suppressing some listings.

I don't think shipping has had any more negative effect than in prior years.  Shipping increased January 27th - my sales were normal for the seven weeks following.   They didn't head south until the March policy changes took effect.   I think there were search algorithms changes in mid-March and again July 1st - in part due to the promoted listing push.

Shipping prices have killed me. Anything bulky is stupid expensive to ship anymore. And since most of my items are like that, my sales dropped like a rock when the new pricing went into effect.

I would think local B&M stores are benefiting from the rates.

I guess I didn't write my meaning correctly.  I meant to get anyone to buy ANY of my items in the $45 range was like pulling teeth.   lol

What amazes me the most is when something sells, with 14 bids, for almost $60.  I post mine for over $15 less, with the BIN option but, no sale & no offers.  Either the right people cannot see it or I am delusional.   lol

I did forget to mention, the card is worth $10,000 only if anyone buys it for that amount.  I doubt anyone paid that for the card.  If someone will pay a maximum of $4500 for it, it is only worth $4500.  The price guides on sports cards mean little.  It's just a guide so, you don't sell a high value card for $5.00; depending on condition, of course.  Believe me, I've dealt with this market for 3 decades.   Cheers!
